3d printer ebook (Kindle) Bed Frame Holder

in #digital-design7 years ago (edited)

My wife asked me last week why I only design and 3d print useless stuff! At first I was not very happy with that comment but after I thought about it I had to admit that she was right.

Today I am very proud to share with you my latest design which I hope you will find as beautiful and useful as I do. The probably world's first 3d printed Kindle Bed frame Holder.

Last week I posted my first attempt on Steemit which failed due to the print coming loose from the print bed. Since than I made multiple changes to the design until I was happy with every single part.

The total model took me two evenings to complete in Fusion 360 and roughly 30 hours to print (without including the various failed prints). The red parts where printed with Colorfab nGen which is very durable. The black screws and nuts where printed with Colorfab' PLA.

The very first thing I did was to download a Kindle reference Image that showed the shape and dimensions of the device. I imported that image to Fusion and after various tries completed the following sketch, ready to be extruded into a 3d shape and export to the printer.

The next step was to think about how to connect the Kindle support structure to my bed frame. I wanted to use a design that was simple, flexible to adjust and easy to 3d print. It took various failed test prints to get to the current model but it was worth the time.

This design has been uploaded to Thingiverse for free download. Fingers crossed and I make it to the Featured section which would be a great exposure for me and Steemit as I linked this post on Thingiverse as well.

Using this Kindle Holder motivates me to design more useful stuff going forward so if you like these kind of posts than stay tuned for more to come!

All the best!

Haha, yes yes I know.

Super awesome design man ! Very awesome work and I think you could definitely sell this concept. But I know you are a nice guy so You share it for free :)

Hopefully like you say it will make it to the featured page and also shine some light on Steemit ! Awesome design tip! 1

Thank you very much my friend. I am also very proud of this design since I can use it on a daily basis. Thank you for your support!

as a physiotherapist I can say,it is incredibly useful for your neck health👍🏽

Awesome thank you!

The knowledge you present is very useful. But as you recall, now the woman will kill me, I can lie and work. Thank you for amazing idea @tarekadam

I am glad you like it!

Failed Print on your MK3? I thought this isn't possible anymore ;-)
Unfortunately, I don't have a possibility to fasten this on my bed.

I think we need a possibility to connect the holder directly to the head...this would also allow you to read while laying on the side and even moving from one side to another ;-D

Haha, yes that is an idea and well. Maybe you come up with a great implementation of it, if so let me know.

first rate outstanding design man ! Very notable work and that i suppose you may in reality sell this concept. but I recognise you are a pleasant guy so that you proportion it without cost :with any luck such as you say it's going to make it to the featured web page and also shine some light on Steemit ! excellent layout tip
