The speed with which the world changes in the twenty-first century is amazing. Until recently, some eighteen years ago the main source of information was the book. It's hard to imagine, but then the Internet was far from everyone. And in order to master some high-paying skill, you had to go to universities, listen to boring lecturers and thoroughly study the huge Talmud in the hope of finding there even a few bits of important information. Now everything is much simpler. Firstly, you can always google it. Secondly, there are a huge number of sites offering educational services (Coursera, TED, Edx and others). Sounds like an ideal world. However, there is not our occasion. I'll try to explain.
It may seem that a large number of sources of information - there is an absolute gold. Perhaps this is so, but not on the Internet in the years 2018. Variety in this case gives rise to confusion. And this is not just a mess, but chaos, which can’t be restrained. It's no joke, but the Internet has at least 408,000 results to cook a curry chicken and 282,000 answers on how to learn how to program. And this is real madness. Obviously, in 99% of cases I will not go beyond the first page of search, because I am a normal person, and I have 24 hours in a day. However, I still have to trust someone. Someone who could have probably paid for own attendance in the window. As a result, I can easily make a mistake by choosing a beautiful and popular, but a bad option. As a result, I can easily make a mistake by choosing a beautiful and popular, but a bad option.
It sounds sad, does not it? But, unfortunately, that's not all. The second problem, connected with teaching something on the Internet, goes hand in hand with electronic certificates, which the employer may not have confidence in. How can he be sure that the job was really done by you, and not by your smarter friend? Here it is assumed that you at least have watched the video course. But, let's say, you are really perfect. Unfortunately you still have to spend several months on an internship, working for half your salary. At least in my country.
Thus, about what kind of "continuous education" can we talk, when each time you have to take risks, potentially losing a few months of life for nothing. Personally, I would like to avoid constant stress, concentrating all my attention exceptionally on learning.
Perhaps, that is why my attention now is focused on what the guys from the TeachMePlease project are doing. I remind you, for those who for some reason did not hear about them, that this is the team that is responsible for creating one of the first sites for those who want to learn, and those who want to teach.
Now they want to go even further. Their new project, Disciplina.io, is the first blockchain for recruting and education, the main goal of which is to unite all the stages of human cognitive activity, to make them consistent, unchanged and accessible to all project participants. As for me in the future, this will allow to systematize the learning process, in advance having built its own path. Moreover, the system provides for monitoring the education process through its own architecture of the blockchain, which ensures the privacy and safety of the data. Now it will not be necessary to go with a bunch of certificates and certificates for potential employers. Checking and accounting for the achievements of a particular recruit will be made in two or three clicks. Even your diploma for drawing on the asphalt in the third class will be in the system. Is not it cool?
Especially I liked the Web of Trust built into the protocol of the blockchain. Probably, this will finally allow to get rid of various rating agencies, which publish their university ratings year after year. Now everything will be fair and transparent. A good teacher, course or university will be at the top of the rankings. Others, apparently, will have to change their occupation :)
