RE: Personal Responsibility

in #discussion7 years ago (edited)

Gazelles and Lions: In the Serengeti plains, every morning a gazelle awakens knowing that it must outrun the fastest lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning, a lion wakes up knowing it must run faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It makes no difference whether you are a gazelle or a lion: when the sun comes up, you had better be hauling and always watching and alert for the attack. The same goes for each and everyone of us. Sure bad luck, fate, karma give it a name…( stuff happens) but in the larger scheme of things that’s life, we are solely responsible for our safety. That’s a precept.... ok end of speech. I edited that because its sounds so preachy... I had a phone talk with my nephew who lives in LA this afternoon. He had a problem yesterday night, he got mugged and rolled. Placed himself into a bad situation and blames everybody else for his misfortune: cops should be this, the club should that and so on. Instead of, and what could you have done different??... dead phone. 29 years old needs to wise up (not going to happen). Sorry.
