using seawater with over double the global average yields
..............................................................................................................................................................................
Why would they hate it? It would seem to be wonderful news. Twice the yields of rice would likely mean twice the people that could be fed. Oddly enough there is a LOT of desert very near to saltwater. The entire Red Sea comes to mind as well as other places.
This would seem to be a boon to poor people everywhere. If famine and starvation are half as bad as the Green Activists say they are...this is a YUGE step toward ending it.
So why won't they be happy?
For one thing they're not 'green'. In reality they don't give a damn about the environment. The fact of the matter is that green activism is a sham. It's a ploy. It's a means to an end. The end is power. The 'green activists' (socialists every one) do what all socialists do. They try to seize control of your life. You're too stupid to live your life properly.
Carbon tax anyone?
But that's just one of the reasons they'll be upset.
The main reason is they like death. It pleases them to see people die. They are anti-human.
Mentally ill. Four percent of the population are psychopaths.
330 million people in the US...about that in Eurp... not to mention about six BILLION more people living in the rest of the world. Four percent of that is a LOT of wackos.
Interesting stuff, not sure how they get around concentrating salt in the fields as the plants transpire the water.
99% of all life on earth, most of which are plants, live in salt water.
Hmm, transpiration is what i was pointing out. It's all good and well at salt levels near 3.5%. What happens when repeated transpiration increase the concentrations, in soil and water to say, near 33.8%?
Rice being grown in the desert with SEAWATER?
I would have thought it would have been too salty to have anything grow with just straight seawater. To be fair, I didn't read the reference the link provided, so I could be taking out the other side of my mouth... but if that is the case --sorry, that's nothing short of a "miracle" to me.
That's amazing! Mind blown.
kelp...ever hear of seaweed?
Oh, yeah, but that's supposed to grow there. Oooooooohhhhh, I see how my comment came off. (Yeah, that sounded kinda silly). I guess, I just didn't think that seawater could grow stuff that DOESN'T grow in the sea on land in the dirt....
I should have been more clear.
That got me intrigued so I had a quick look....
The current world population is 7.6 billion as of June 2018 according to the most recent United Nations estimates
Wow, so that means there's an estimated 304,000,000 psychopaths!
so it would seem?
haha.. too green until it kills us all
I did not see that coming
