RE: Is Steemit The Solution To Facebook Ripoff and Monopoly ?

in #discussion7 years ago

What is to stop FB or another social media platform from building this type of infrastructure for their millions+ of users soon enough? All sorts of major corps are adopting blockchain technology, and I can't imagine FB getting left in the dust on a site like Steemit. Maybe they'll try to use their leverage to buy the rights to it all out.

Sort:

FB will not share revenue or a cent with you because it is not in their corporate strategy...they report to shareholders and not users of the platform...have you made a cent in FB or any other social media?

That's their current corporate strategy. Strategies change over time as markets evolve. That's a given despite current state. Companies need to evolve and defend their position.

I never made a cent with prior sites because I barely used FB, never used other sites except passively of late to follow crypto, and don't like the lack of privacy. I've had friends do very well marketing themselves on Instagram to quit their jobs, so it's possible indirectly.

Good point however people make it more here than at instagram...FB will never change their corporate strategy...it is in their DNA to use people data for advertisement money and even if FB want to change, their shareholders will never allow it because sharing revenue with billions of members will lead to no shareholders wealth maximization and that is the aim since they went public
