RE: We are investors, not customers, act like you own it because you do.

While I think some fundamental Steem rule changes would help improve the quality of the content, perhaps new users need to be told to just immediately power up. When I first started (not long ago) I read everything I could about how all this works. It was confusing, because the FAQ is not all that helpful, the linked articles are a bit more helpful, but some articles are older and don't apply to the current fork. However, it was quickly clear that SP was the key, so I just power up all Steem and convert SBD to Steem and then to SP. And with Steem so low it made little sense to me to buy some Steem and power up that. I didn't see much downside to converting USD to Eth and then Steem when Steem was trading so low. Besides, if I am going to spend time on here, having more SP means I can reward others and myself a bit more. I've actually felt bad that a few others were able to reward me for a lot more than I could reward them.

I agree that new users should power up. They are getting and receiving bad advice. I get pretty frustrated by the... "don't self vote group" and pretty much anyone that wanders around giving shitty advice, because they are frustrated with their own performance.
