Secret Society of SecondBorn Royals -Review

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is a new superhero movie produced for the Disney + platform.

Secret Society of Second Born Royals is based on an original but totally absurd idea. We enter the world of princes, in which the second child in the family has such a hard time in life that he rebels against everything. In addition, in his teens, he discovers that, like other other royal families, he has superpowers. The title organization is a group of superheroes composed of princes and princesses endowed with superhuman powers who are to save the world. It sounds bizarre, but there can be a method in such madness, right? It's hard to deny that it has the potential for something pleasant. Just a pity it was wasted.

What is most offensive after watching this movie? That's how cheap it is. It is as if a superhero film was made in Poland for the budget of an independent artistic drama. It would probably have been better, because at least for us, actors would have performed better. The Disney Channel, which carried out the project for Disney +, is responsible for the production. They don't spend a lot of money on their projects. In this way, the choice of power itself is poor, because you have chosen what can be budget-restricted: super hearing, invisibility, insect control, influencing others, telekinesis or breathing underwater. All this so that you don't have to shoot scenes with special effects. In these few action scenes that this film offers, however, it was possible to show hideous effects that are shockingly artificial, underdeveloped and lack of a creative stimulus. The idea itself would not be bad, because even such powers can be shown interesting. The banality and simplicity resembles kitschy TV movies from the 90s and early 2000s. You have to fill the schedule with something and it's best to do it at the cheapest cost - Secret Society of Second-Born Royals fits this thesis perfectly, because it does not offer any action, special effects or meaningful use power, that is, he commits all the sins of superhero movies. In addition, there are so few locations in which the story takes place that they can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg, because the script and the story itself are a cliché of the kind. We will not experience interesting characters here, and the crude building of relations between the characters can only make you laugh, because they rely too much on the expected stereotypes and clichés (shock, the prettiest and most popular likes a quiet nerd!). It doesn't even try to follow the trends of superhero cinema to create a standard genesis with the right entertainment layer. Instead, we have horribly played teen characters, predictability as obvious as coronavirus slide launches and pervasive boredom. If you know family movies from the 90s and those produced after 2000, you can guess all the stages of the story's development: empty hero transformation related to a high-flown but artificially given message, team formation, a twist so shocking you will know everything after a few minutes , and a villain with questionable motivations. Everything that can be broken in the script here has been messed up with flying colors. I omit the introduction of a principality in Western Europe ruled by people of Asian descent with Canadian infrastructure.

One might wonder if Secret Society of Second-Born Royals can reach teenagers. The answer is simple: categorically not, because those who grew up on shows like Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: Far From Home will be bored to death with such a surprisingly little creative project. It's not worth spending 90 minutes on it. Unless for a point of reference: this is a very bad movie.

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is a lame movie, unnecessary and few people get excited about the cliffhanger announcing its sequel. This is a bit like the Link not found series, also produced by Disney Channel. Only there, at least, there was more creativity..
