A while back my wife asked me to clean the old wax out the scented wax burner. I was unsure of how to take care of this task because she has always taken care of it; however, I soon had a solution that would get the job completed and provide us with some fire starters at the same time.
With both a wife and daughter in the house there is never a shortage of interesting things that can be used for multiple purposes. The item I found this time was cotton rounds. They use them for various reasons, but I now have a use for them as well....
After pulling a couple of cotton rounds out of the package I placed them into the hot wax one at a time letting each one soak up as much wax as they were capable of absorbing. The photo below displays a cotton round like I used to clean out the wax pot on the burner.
I placed each one on a paper plate and allowed them to dry flipping them several times to keep them from getting stuck to it. After they dried completely and cooled off, I put them in a sealable plastic bag where they stay until it is time to start a fire.
The picture above shows the cotton rounds as they were drying on the paper plate. These nifty little wax absorbers can be picked up at your local pharmacy store. The next time you need to clean out the wax burner, don't let the wax go to waste.... make fire starters with it!
The fire in the picture below was started using only one of these fire starters. I have found that they work best when stood on end between a couple of pieces of kindling.

Great post, I do something similar using lint from the laundry dryer and old egg cartons.
We use dryer lint as well... it works really good....
Thanks for checking out my post!
