Same Girl Different Hair - I do my Own Hair Cutting and Coloring

These are both very recent photos of me. I had let my hair go natural which is a dirty "blonde" type color. A stylist once told me it was dirty blonde....I call it more of just plain old brown. LOL. Anyway for years now I've been trending towards this sapphire black color. Sometimes I let it go longer between colorings and this time it was nearly back to natural (photo on left w/ white shirt.)

I really like the sapphire black. I have tried violet black and it looked too red and and I really didn't like it. I have some strong native American ancestry so the black works well with a fun blue hue, of course. Flat black just isn't as rad!

What do you think? I like me both ways but if I could perma color my hair it'd be sapphire black or some kick ass rainbow color. =)

Also I cut my own hair recently too, which you can see in this collage. I wish I hadn't taken quite so much off the length. But it'll grow back.

There are many hair cutting tutorials out there. Please make sure you get REAL hair cutting scissors before you try it though. Regular scissors do damage your hair and lead to increased split ends, which make me cringe.

I use the "ponytail" method to cut my hair of which there are a few different methods of those to try depending on what you're going for layering wise. I estimate it's been probably 3 years since I've been to a real stylist. Sure saves a lot of money! Heres a version of the hair cutting style I use:

If you think you wanna try start with a small length reduction first so you can get used to the method. Let me know how you like it if you try! It's kinda fun. I then try to save the hair to donate.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Feel free to leave a comment, always love hearing from you!

I think either is a great look, but I do like the blue tones in the black! Very striking. And that's awesome that you can cut your own hair! I am not very adept at anything like that, so I make a trek to the stylist once or twice a year. That's probably why I had enough to donate last time I went. ;)

Thanks! I'm still working on perfecting the cutting techniques

That's such a pretty color and it looks so great on you!

Thanks sarah !

Black makes you look different. I like the color on you. I could never cut my own hair. It is 4c hair.

Oh I see! Thanks for compliment ;)

Look like two totally different women. Both equally attractive. :-)

Hehehe. Was wondering the differences others see. Thanks!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the blue tones in the black! :) I have always done my own hair cuts and coloring as well as my kids (my girls are teens/young adults now and do their own.) Every few years I would go to a cheap salon to get a cut if I wanted something vastly different, but I'm generally too cheap to do that. :)

You look great!

Dahhmmm girl! @chelsea88
You sure transition well from "smart girl" to "sultry, sexy goddess!"😀🤩
Both looks are great on you!
You're lucky you can pull the dark black hair with colors.
I've seen pink, purple and unicorn colored hair on the Internet.
I've been cutting my hair for decades. Sadly I don't have long enough hair to use your ponytail trick. It's orobably payback for whacking the hair off my Barbie dolls when I was a little girl! ✂️ 💇‍✂️

Lol! I used to get mad when people would cut off My Little Pony's hair . Never cared about barbie though lol

My Little Pony was a toy my daughter had growing up. Thanks! Now I feel so oldddd!

The second pic gets my vote cuz of cleavage >:P

Thanks for giving me a chuckle @spiritualmax ;)
How goes life? Haven't seen you around in a bit. (Realizes she could just go check your blog lol)

Everything is fine! Glad I made you smile :P

I like it a lot because the saphire is impactful and the dark colour makes you look bold by making your features stand out.

Thank you. I am realizing i'm less a fan of it when i feel like i'm looking too pale. Lol

I like it natural, but it's cute either way.
