This will save the compressor a LOT of effort!
Yesterday morning during my trip to town I stopped at Walmart and picked up 2 shower curtains. As soon as I got home I set about getting one installed in the doorway of the cooler to act as a barrier to keep the cool air from getting sucked out when I open the door. During the hottest days this year when it hit 106F the cooler was having some serious trouble keeping the temp low enough since I was having to open the door to put in more harvested produce.
The nice part about the shower curtain is it was $5, it is 70 inches wide which allowed me to fold it over 3 times, and it is light but with 3 layers will be more insulating, and I can always just get another and screw it in place. It doesn't go all the way to the floor but the gap is only about 2 to 3 inches so the loss of cold will be minimal. I am thinking about installing a door sill/lip that will close the gap but I am not sure I want to have to step over it every time I go in.
Surprisingly the grommets were spaced almost exactly correct when I folded the curtain over. Only one of them was a slight bit off but it worked out well. I am going to slice the curtain in places to make it a bit easier to walk through since single flaps are not the best. I figure I can do alternating cuts on each layer so they overlap each other.
A lit while ago I also built a small table that fit a piece of granite I have perfectly. The shelf brackets are from the shelves I wanted to use in the cooler that ended up not fitting. So I used a bunch of the pieces to make a 2 foot square table that has the scale hanging over it. It works pretty well but is a bit sharp for the soft summer squash. Still useful though.

What a great idea! We built a walk-in cooler using a cool-bot and an air conditioner. It works great but this is a really great idea.
