My mother is almost near retirement after 34 years of service as a teacher. Her birthday is coming on next Sunday. She is an English teacher, but recently she had to cover the Grade 2 class due to sick leave of the grade2 teacher. Teaching in primary classes is not easy. It needs special training on everything, even how you speak to behave. It is totally different than teaching to teenagers, so I saw that she puts a huge effort to learn how to teach small kids.
There is a youtube channel that I couldn't remember the name of which she always referred to understand how to pass basic concepts to 7 years old kid.
Not like older classes, grade two students have plenty of games and activities to perform during the classes. So my mother had to create many materials like cards, drawings, equipment etc.
Most of the time I do the drawings or coloring that she needed. Even in her last week at school, she wanted to finish the remaining part of the lesson.
The lesson is about picture descriptions and storytelling. She requested me to draw the pictures present in the teacher's guide, but it looked very complex to draw by hand.
So I went to the shop and took enlarged photocopies of each picture. The pictures looked boring and unattractive without colors. Hence I used pastels to color them up. Actually, I didn't want them to be very realistic and I just colored them with basic colors just to enhance the idea of the picture.
I am really proud of my mother and her service to students for the past 34 years.
