Do you still know this series? MacGyver was able to use home-garden-and-kitchen stuff with scientific knowledge and inventive use. In combination with duct tape and his Swiss army knife he found all kinds of solutions for almost hopeless situations (usually a matter of life and death).
Well, I did not have a situation like that, but I had to think about it when I started tinkering myself.
At my workplace I already had a laptop support for my MacBook, but because Apple chose to omit all kinds of ports, I had to buy an adapter with more options. Only when connecting, it felt quite cheap.
That's why I figured I could fix the adapter with tie-wraps. And see the result here!
A simple but effective do it yourself solution!
Disclaimer: privately I would buy the best dock in the world where everything is already integrated. But in the office everything may not cost anything.
