Gear Shift Register

in #diy6 years ago

Buna (Hello in Romanian).

Today i have a product that was made using a cheap plastic box, an arduino nano and a MAX7219 / MAX7221 Led Matrix module.

It features two NKK pushbuttons and it´s running the SimHub software.

Function? This is to be used as a shift register. The pushbuttons are assigned to specific functions.

In the beginning:

Caps and guards for Nkk MB2011 pushbuttons

The final product:

Gear Shift Register for SimRacing

The Red button was assigned to the "Sorry" function, when to apologize to another player on online matches, because we are talking racing games. The Green one is assigned for the "Thanks" function. This is very common in iRacing and i had that in mind when i built it. They are, at the moment, assigned to change the information on a second monitor, such as fuel pressure, tyre temp, etc.

Another option is that they (pushbuttons) can be assigned to change the information on additional devices like a TM1638 (Gif below) or an LCD. The buttons can be assigned to almost anything.

Good?!

On closing the post...

  • Its a must have because it helps a lot in knowing what gear is on!
  • The font style options are diverse.
  • It´s easy to know to wich functions these pushbuttons are assigned to once they are integrated in the unit.
  • The Simhub software is great. All that is needed is there.
