Here are some facts which you may not yet know:

  • Mushrooms contains more dietary fibre than  celery or whole-wheat bread.
  • Mushrooms contain no salt.
  • Mushrooms contain more protein and potassium than most vegetables.
  • Mushrooms are low in kilo-joules.
  • Mushrooms are a good source of zinc (this mineral helps boost your immune system and also your libido).
  • Ancient Egyptians believed that mushrooms grew by magic, because they could appear overnight.
  • Mushrooms are one of the few natural sources of vitamin D and of B-vitamins (contains Thiamin, Ribofloxin, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Biotin and Folate .
  • Mushrooms are between the richest, natural sources of selenium (mineral which strengthens the immune system and may help reduce the risk of cancer and other chronic illnesses).
  • The stem of a mushroom is a good source of flavor and nutrients.
  • Mushrooms are best stored unwashed in brown paper bags in the refrigerator, best if on the lowest shelf.
  • Many wild mushrooms are poisonous and could be life-threatening.

Is there any manual to that effect. I mean something that helps you know the exact mushroom to mess with 

There are many sources to learn - which are good and which are poisonous. Good mushrooms prevail ( at least in my area), simple rule "ignore unknown" makes eating them pretty safe

Mushrooms are my favourite types of protein. Been unable to identity the poisonous and hallucinogenic types make me wary of purchasing then for my meals. Mycology is a very interesting field of study and mushrooms have so many economic values.
