There's having high expectations. Then, there's the typical SEC mindset. It's obvious that Ole Miss has not been a dominant force in college football for years. When you have a tough conference with teams like Alabama, LSU, Auburn, etc., that's a lot of competition.
Like I have posted before, LSU fired Les Miles for less. What was not mentioned was the backlash that followed. I don't recall reading anything major when that happened. When Ole Miss gave Matt Luke the boot, that upset the players.
What's a program if you cannot keep recruits committed? From this article, it would appear that the athletic department underestimated Luke's impact. Sometimes, in the quest for success, we neglect the human element. With that neglect, it actually holds us back from achieving our goals.
Will the University of Mississippi's football program go down the drain? More than likely not. Will they achieve sudden greatness? I doubt it. What we do know is that there will be a coaching staff change. I guess we shall all find out in due time.
In other news, do you think people will have the same outrage for Nick Saban when it comes to Tua Tagovailoa? The young man most likely won't be the same again after that hip injury. But hey, most sports watchers don't care who's playing as long as someone is playing. We only recognize brand names of universities anyhow.
