The New York Mets cannot be attacked for rushing to decisions about their dugout coaching staff.
Pitching Coach is one of the positions that took a while to fill. When they say Brodie Van Wagonen is thorough, this looks like the case considering the off season is now two months old.
The position was finally filled. Jeremy Hefner, who pitched for the team in 2012 and 2013 is the new pitching coach. It was reported that he was named over the other candidates.
He recently served as assistant pitching coach for the Minnesota Twins, one of the playoff teams in 2019.
He replaced Phil Regan who moved into the position when Dave Eiland was fired.
