This sounds pretty cool on the surface by I have my reservations. If governments turn more friendly towards crypto it could bring in more into the mainstream and aid in growth overall and bring more people to it. However, governments getting involved in things they also have a tendency to fuck things up and draw them out and add to red tape so I'm not completely sure what to think about it

Bitcoin-like transactions are more easily traced by just about anyone than bank transfers. P2p transfers between un-identifiable wallets may be ok, but otherwise tax hungry thieves will do their best to grab what they can. If they can trace you, they will punish you for daring to exist! Tax income applied to enhancing shared infrastructure should be okay, but which so called government can be trusted with that?

In my opinion 'governments' as such should be scrapped and replaced by "Public Service Institutions", which should all have perfectly transparent accounts that can all be monitored by the public they serve.

Yeah I'm not very trusting when it comes to the government and my money
