Several youngsters having a place with India's Jain people group have started disavowing the material world to progress toward becoming priests who dependably walk shoeless, eat just what they get as contributions and never wash or utilize present day innovation. The BBC's Priyanka Pathak investigates why.

"I will always be unable to embrace my girl once more," says Indravadan Singhi, his voice breaking. He turns away, decided not to uncover feeling as he says, "I can never meet her eye again."

Resignedly, he watches loved ones float through his home, enriching his family room with gold and pink decorations to commend his girl's renunciation of the world and passage into religious life.
