Corsucate Covers // I'll Stand by You by the Pretenders (With Layered Harmony)

Hi Friends!

I'm so excited to try out a new technique in this video tonight. I see a lot of famous YouTube musicians record live covers - but then add layered harmony tracks on top to give the video more interest. This is my first time experimenting with this style of video - so I'd love to hear what you think!

I am a soprano in my soul, and so harmonies are not something I'm very comfortable with. My singing partner Jes is really pushing me to start playing around with singing more harmony and it's been fun to work on that skill. For years, I would always sing the melody and she did the harmony - but she is slowly, but surely pushing me out of my comfort zone and making me work on it! That's what friends are for right?

In this video, I sing "I'll Stand by You" by the Pretenders. I hope you enjoy my take on this classic song.

Ps.... have I said how much I appreciate you lately? I am so incredibly grateful for every person that listens to my videos and takes the time to say hello in the comments!

XO, Lea

I’m currently runnng a survey to get some feedback on my content and what types of content you most enjoy seeing from me.

Here’s the link to the survey. If you would be willing to take 5 minutes and fill it out... it would mean soooo much to me! <3

I really like this one! I think my favorite of yours so far!

Wow, that's a big compliment! Thanks @phoenixwren!! <3

One of my all time faves!!! Great selection! The addes harmony was a nice touch! Looking forward to see what else you do with this new bit! Much love, sister!

aww thanks my friend! I'm surprised by how easy it was to record a second layer and add it in. I'm excited to play around with this more and maybe even add other instruments/percussion. We'll see! :)

Hmm... Wonder if this could lead into collaborations? Now that would be fun! Imagine the possibilities! Collaborating virtually with various Steemit personalities! Hmmm.... Gears are a-turnin'!

Oooh i'm open to ideas!! On my survey the "collaborate with other steemians" topic is one of the highest rated. Definitely a sign that there is space to do more of that!

It would be pretty easy to do a music collab with a split screen. If one person did a video recording and sent it to me. I could add my stuff on top of it and sync up the videos.

Is there a duet in our future?? :) hehe

Oh I think there is!! I'm more in the Alto range so we might be a great match!

I'm just crossing from Washington into Idaho on the last leg on our road trip home. After settling back in at home, I plan on focusing my energy on improving my content.

I also found my old journals chock full of originals as well as my old sheet music! My daughter also got a guitar lesson and was gifted an electric guitar and amp from a dear old friend of mine and former band mate so she's super fired up which means I'll be making music more of a priority too! Yay!

Wow, so many amazing things in this comment! Awesome that you found some of your old sheet music and originals and that your daughter is getting pumped about playing the guitar!

The alto/soprano combo will sound awesome. Let me know when you're all settled back in from your trip and in the mood to work on some kind of collaboration! I'd love that. :)

Hi sis, nice to meet you :)

Lovely presentation, you have the subtlety and at the same time enough strength to transport us to the stars, congratulations
