Most people have probably already heard the news that Dlive is moving from Steem to Lino. When I first read it, I couldn't believe what I was reading. I always thought that Dlive was a well-respected platform on the Steem blockchain and that they were in it for the long haul.
I've personally recommended it many times over Dtube, praising their low fees and easy to use interface. Now I'm really starting to regret doing that. That announcement really hit hard, because I genuinely liked using Dlive, I've had less issues with it than with Dtube for example.
In their announcement, they mentioned that the reason for abandoning Steem, had to do with the fact that content on Steemit wasn't fairly rewarded. This seems like a bit of a bullshit excuse to me. It really looks like they've been planning this switch for a while and Dlive seemed to have connections with Lino before there was even talk of switching.
Alternatives
Dtube now seems to be the most logical alternative to replace Dlive. I'd say we're pretty lucky that we're able to have multiple options in the first place. Imagine if Dlive was the only streaming platform on the Steem blockchain, we'd be screwed...
Another smaller streaming platform I've seen being mentioned is Vimm. It looks to be a lot smaller than Dtube, but that also means that your content is more visible. It's always a good idea to have multiple successful streaming platforms available for Steem, I think that has become clearer than ever.
Or you could decide to stay on DLive, in the hopes that the Lino tokens get some value in the future. Don't forget that you'd be reliant on tips and donations in the meantime. Might be a bit hard to sustain, right after they've lost a big chunk of their streamers.
Conclusion
Dlive was a really great platform for streamers and I would be lying if I said i wasn't going to miss it. While I only streamed occasionally, Dlive allowed me to do that with minimal amounts of effort. EVerything just worked out of the box for me.
That's the main reason why I'm so disappointing in them for leaving Steem. It just feels as though they've used Steem to get their startup funds, while always having planned to leave it eventually. I think @meno explained it best with his comment under the Dlive announcement.
Steem will definitely still do great without Dlive, but it's still very sad to see a big platform like that leave. Let's quickly move on and support better platforms!
Pity that @dlive is gone, I liked the way they didn't pick favourites with their upvotes. The way that @dtube handles it, is potentially a case for corruption in the future. I already see that there is some dtubers getting decent upvotes for some pretty ordinary music performances.
I only used @dlive for game streaming from my alt account, I will probably check out @vimm.
FOR TSE: The post announcing this move has been down-voted into oblivion. Virtually every whale whose name I know had a hand in this smack-down. (Took forever for the page to load when I clicked on the link.)
Interesting. (Beyond that, I'm staying totally out of this.)
Yeah I was expecting that, now I personally think downvoting the post doesn't do any good, I mean it should be very visible in my opinion, since it's an important announcement, whether you agree with it or not.
It's not like downvoting it for a couple of hundred dollars is going to hurt Dlive financially.
I never used dlive other than watching but i know a lot of people must be shocked with this move, and I also feel there excuse for the move is suspect
Total dick move and shady as hell...
Thank god it happen before the next steemit update.
There's been a lot of talk about dLive and their abandonment of the STEEM platform. Nobody seems interesting in dTube, presumably due to the fees.
What are the VIMM fees like? One day I will use one of these dApps, and its good to know the facts.
I think it's around 20% fees in total, but part of the fees are used to fund delegators. It's explained in this post:
https://steemit.com/vimmtv/@chiren/why-i-m-delegating-to-vimm-support-a-steem-project-and-make-some-gains-on-the-side
Yep, the whole excuse sounds to me like a cheap trick at justifying the scummy thing they did. Smart business move though, piggyback on a blockchain to get free money to pay for developement and then run without notice to do an ICO.
I think it is a good reminder that even decent coins like Steem can get unexpected setbacks that could be possibly devastating.
Nah, if there's any damage it's not because Dlive left steem.

@daan, thanks for letting us know about the Dlive switch.
As a matter of interest, do you know about https://weku.io/. This is new social media site on the blockchain. It is very similar to Steem.
I joined up very recently and I have a referral link for anyone interested: https://deals.weku.io/pick_account?referral=mariusclaassen

I am pretty disappointed by this too. I really don't have much respect for people or services that just abandon things like that. I had used Dlive a couple of times in the past and I really enjoyed it. I need to make sure I get in and revoke my Steemconnect access. The good thing is, there are so many developers and new things coming out on Steem that there is a good chance a replacement will come along sooner rather than later...
