Hi @teamsteem,
First of all, great video! You guys looked like you were having so much fun, you made me want to go ice skating! The fact that you seemed to have ice rink to yourselves is awesome.
It’s a great metaphor for you to use in the video, by falling down and getting up again. There is much joy in the trying, and it takes a lot of strength and humility to even get up to try again. People often forget to acknowledge that trying is the journey that we don’t allow ourselves to enjoy, it’s where all the hard work happens, “the blood, sweat, and tears”, and we forget to relish in the process due to focusing on the destination too much.
I like the message that you’re putting out there; to feel powerless over situations, particularly over your own life, is one of the worst feelings in the world. But you’re right in pointing out that we all have a choice, as even when you’re living in the shadows, feeling like you’ve hit rock bottom, you can always choose to look up. A friend of mine, who has been battling with cancer over the last five years, recently chose to say, “f**k cancer” and has been consciously (and actively) looking for things to be grateful for in her day to day life, and sharing it online. I find that attitude truly inspiring, and in her doing so with such fire and grace, it has been uplifting and empowering for the rest of us watching. She has certainly made me acknowledge that I have so much to be thankful for in my own life.
Rather than giving away your power, that is truly yours to keep, it is still possible to empower one another, which feels different as it is more of a creative energy, a force that can uplift the other as well as ourselves. I love the idea of raising up, as oppose to falling in love, because that’s what it feels like, being lifted up by another person. So simple. So beautiful. So empowering.
Thank you for sharing this, and thank you for your words of encouragement.
P.S. Great skating btw! Like a fish to water (except the water was frozen, and the fish was “swimming” on its surface, lol!)
Omgsh! ❤️❤️❤️ I love what you had to say. Your friend is an inspiration. ☺️
Thank you! And yes, she’s amazing ❤️
