While you would think that Russia and America are getting closer and closer, the current European leadership (most of them), clearly has ideological differences with Putin's Russia and also with the current US-President, who seems to have stopped to play the world police. You also should not forget rising players, like China. To arm up usually means a huge boost to the economy, which is something that Trump needs, due to his promises. Unfortunately, the current system usually ends up in war at some point. So we will have to see. At the moment we are far from an open European-American-Russian Alliance. Though I think America and Russia could get closer together under Trump and Putin.

A lot of us in America would rather see us in a partnership with those who share our values. After the fall of the U.S.S.R., Russia had to embrace the American values of the free market and even realized an atheist state goes to rot within 2 generations. Morality and quality of life is up now that they dropped Left wing ideology.
If we didn't elect Trump, Russia would have been more American than America.
This may sound odd but it is truly shocking how easily Europe embraces deadly ideas like socialism, so many deaths and wars happened in the 20th century and it's like Europeans are pretending none of it happened.
Being allied to a nation with a death wish sounds awful, socialism is the real cancer in politics and would only drag us down.
We don't hate Europe by any means, we feel sad for the people there. I know taking out nationalism from your socialism was supposed to make it acceptable but it just makes those of us with a sense of economics panic.
A central planning system that calculates the needs of the people and redistributes the wealth that doesn't control its population is doomed. Complete insanity like that will only cause serious pain for you guys, central planning with out a plan.....
