|| Open Mic Week 78: Original Song "Both Running" ||

I've been away from the Open Mic a bit as I was just needing a little break, but am happy to be back this week with an original song for you!

This was about a relationship that ended years prior to writing the song, and I remember just wanting to write something honest but without the bitterness that often accompanies these kinds of memories.

My video is at DLive

Lyrics below & YouTube below (in case of lag, although DLive has been great lately!)

Both Running

How could something so good go so wrong?
How'd we ever hit the end?
Thought we were solid and certain
Had that ancient innocence

I told you listen, I told you trust me
I raised my white flag, asked you to love me
Why couldn't you see it, the signs that were showing?
Now we are both running

Yesterday still echoes heartbeat strong
Like a track inside my head
How can it possibly have been so long
Since we fell over the edge

I told you listen, I told you trust me
I raised my white flag, asked you to love me
Why couldn't you see it, the signs that were showing?
Now we are both running

What beautiful song and voice ;9)

Thank you! :)

Great @kayclarity. You're damn talented. And adorable too😀
Keep the good work up👍

I think something hurts like that pretty damn near the core of everyone's being. Congratulations on capturing it in poetry and music.

Thank you. Yes - the very core. Glad to share that understanding with you.

To enter Steemit Open Mic please follow the rules. Thank you.

  • openmic must be the first tag

Shoot. I did actually put it as the first tag, but dlive automatically replaces it, apparently. There is no way to change it.

Does this disqualify my entry? If so, should I consider entering with a separate entry of the same song tomorrow?

I would appreciate it if you would permit it to stand, as I did actually follow the rules and just couldn't have known that would happen with the tag. I was looking forward to sharing this song for weeks!

Did you try editing the post on Steemit, and reordering the tags?

That was lovely by the way. I really enjoyed it. I hope your entry is permitted.

I did! But the first tag won't edit - just the way Steemit works.

Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!

Unfortuantely, there are so many entries that we are using a tool to make the weekly See Who Played post and for that to work openmic must be the first tag. Also, any other first tag also means you will miss out on the votes from people following the Open Mic Trail.

That's one of the reasons why we have rules that must be followed. The first tag cannot be changed once it is posted. If I can remember I'll add you manually this week so you will show in the weekly post, but there's nothing I can do to get you those autovotes from supporters following the trail this week.

Gotcha. Thanks for your response! Obviously it's disappointing, but I understand. Sad thing is that I actually did follow the rules - DLive just automatically changes the first tag so I didn't know the post would do that, and like you said I can't change it after. If you don't mind adding manually this round, that'd be great. I'd love to still be able to be considered by the judges and share the song with the community as best as possible.

Take care.

Yay! Beautiful!

What an absolute pleasure this was to listen to! Your beautiful voice coupled with your wonderfully simplistic but dynamically fitting guitar work was such a great combination!
