Galah Asin or in other areas called Galasin or Gobak Sodor is a kind of local game from Indonesia that currently we can still be played by elementary school children. This game is a group game consisting of two groups, where each team consists of 3 - 5 people. The point of the game is to block an opponent from passing through the line to the last line back and forth, and to win all the members of the group must complete the process back and forth in a predetermined field area.

This game is usually played on the badminton court with a reference to existing lines or it could be by using a rectangular field with a size of 9 x 4 m which is divided into 6 parts. The border of each section is usually marked with chalk. Group members who get their turn to guard the field are divided into two, group members keeping the horizontal border and vertical line. For group members who are tasked with maintaining a horizontal boundary, they will try to block their opponents who also attempt to cross the designated line as the free boundary line. For group members who have the task of keeping a vertical line (generally only one person), then this person has access to the entire vertical line located in the middle of the field. This game is very exciting and very difficult because everyone should always keep watch and run as fast as possible if necessary to achieve victory.
The term game Gobak Sodor is known in Central Java, whereas in other areas such as poles are more familiar in the Natuna Islands, while in some other Riau Islands regions are known by long pole names. In the Territory of Riau Mainland, this long pole game is called main cak bur or play belon. Meanwhile, in the area of West Java in the name of Galah Asin or Galasin. Gobak Sodor is a kind of regional game from Indonesia. This game is a group game consisting of two groups, where each team consists of 3-5 people.
How to play
How to do this game are:

  • Make the guard lines with chalk like a badminton field, the difference is no double lines.
  • Divide the players into two teams, one team consisting of 3 - 5 or can be adjusted to the number of participants. One team will be the "watch" team and the other team will be the "opposing" team.
  • Team members who get their turn "watch" will keep the field, the guarded way is a horizontal line and some are maintaining the vertical border. For horizontal line keepers the task is to try to block their opponents who are also trying to cross the designated line as the free boundary line. For a person who gets the job of maintaining the vertical border, the task is to keep the entire vertical line located in the middle of the field.
  • While teams that become "opponents", should try to pass the line to the row to the rearmost row, then back again past guard the opponent to get to the starting line.
    Rules
The following rules that apply in the game Galasin (Gobak Sodor) are as follows:
  • Players are divided into 2 groups consisting of 3 - 5 people (adjusted).
  • If 1 group consists of 5 people then the field is divided into 4 rectangular boxes, which are 5m x 3m (adjusted).
  • The "guard" team is in charge of keeping the "opposing" team unable to reach the finish line.
  • The "opposing" team tries to reach the finish line on condition that the team is "untouched" and can enter the finish line on condition that no "opposing" team member is still in the starting area.
  • Team "opponent" is said to win if one of the team members managed to get back to the starting line safely (not touched by the opposing team).
  • The "opposing" team is said to be defeated if one of its members is touched by the "guard" team or exits past a predetermined field boundary. If that happens, it will be a replacement position that the team "opponent" will be a team "watch", and vice versa.
    Benefits
This game is very exciting, fun as well as very difficult because everyone should always keep watch and run as fast as possible if necessary to victory. Spiritual Value in the game of Gobak Sodor besides togetherness, we can also learn the compact cooperation between one guard and another guard so that the opponent is not out of control to get out of our confinement. On the other hand for an excellent breakthrough, there are still many doors that open when one gap is felt to have closed. Do not despair if there is a door that is guarded, because there is another door ready to receive our arrival, which is important we want to try and act immediately. Remember that opportunities are always there, although sometimes the probability values are few.
