I thought about this also, though as I suffer with the dreaded limited bandwidth all new users suffer. I found it easier to make my own channel on discord, and send my small amount of new friends on here a link to it. So when I am down on bandwidth I can still socialise with the people I like to upvote and chat with on here, without using any of my bandwidth.
