Milkshake duck - a term conceived in the twittersphere that depicts an overnight online networking sensation whose viral help quickly disintegrates with nearer investigation - was picked on Monday as an Australian lexicon's oath of 2017.
Macquarie Word reference, the authoritative expert on Australian English, characterizes a milkshake duck as: a man who is at first saw decidedly by the media however is then found to have something faulty about them which causes a sharp decrease in their ubiquity.
Australia's reaction was that most had never known about the term, which began from the 2016 @pixelatedboat tweet: "The entire web adores Milkshake Duck, an exquisite duck that beverages milkshakes! 5 seconds later We lament to advise you the duck is supremacist."
"Milkshake duck emerged similar to a truly necessary term to portray something we are seeing increasingly of, not simply on the web but rather now over a wide range of media," the advisory group said.
"It plays to the concurrent want to cut somebody down and the expectation that they won't be cut down. From various perspectives it catches what 2017 has been about," it included.
While authored in 2016, milkshake duck was excluded in the word reference until a year ago.
The lexicon's oath of the year challenge has for quite some time been available to developments of at least two words. The expression of 2016 was "phony news."
