Baxter is a dog who LOVES his toys.
When we first adopted Baxter, he didn't really know how to play, and a lot of his toys just confused him. We really had to teach him how to be a puppy and how to play with his toys. When he learned, however, he really learned! Even when Baxter is just laying on the couch, he will always have one of his toys with him.
I wanted to share Baxter's top 5 favorite toys with you, and some our favorites as well. We want tell you a little bit about why we love them so much and where we got them, incase you are looking for some toys for your dogs as well!
*Disclaimer* These toys have been heavily loved and played with, so they may not look as beautiful as they once did, but I promise, they are great!

#5 - Cesar Millan Duck Dog Toy
Amazon: $11.00
Baxter's duck has been around since week one. I actually picked it up for him at our local Big Lots, and he instantly fell in love with it. It has a squeaker for a head and the body makes a rustling noise. Baxter, however, does not do well with squeaker toys, and tore the head off the duck about 2 months after we got it. Now, however, he carries a headless duck toy all around the apartment. He is so proud of it and loves it so much. He likes to play tug with it, or just trashes it around!
As dog parents, we like this toy because Baxter still likes it, even though the squeaker is gone. It also held up really well! It did take him 2 entire months to get the squeaker out! He enjoys the duck toy so much and we would definitely suggest it, but be aware that if your dog rips out squeakers frequently, this probably won't last forever!

#4 - Dog Frisbee
Amazon - $9.99
Baxter has been trying to learn how to play frisbee since about October, and he is definitely still struggling. BUT he loves his frisbee. Every once and a while, he really understands what he is supposed to be doing and catches it when we throw it. He doesn't need to know how to play frisbee to play with his frisbee, however! He loves to play tug with his frisbee, chew on the soft silicon areas like a chew toy, and shake it around like a rope. It took him a while to figure out what to do with the frisbee, but now he loves to carry it around.
As dog parents, we love the frisbee because we really want him to learn how to catch it someday, and think we are slowly starting to get there. We also love it because it has held up really well. He uses it as a chew toy a lot, and it hasn't broken at all. It also is really funny to watch your dog shaking a frisbee around like a rope!

#3 - Leaps and Bounds Rope Tug
Petco - $7.99
Baxter's rope is definitely one of his absolute favorites. When we first got it, he didn't really know how to play tug, but now that he has learned, it is one of his favorite activities! Baxter's rope was also bought within the first month of us adopting him, and it has lasted FORVER! While he has chewed off the ends, the rest of the rope is pretty much intact, and he is chewing on that thing all of the time! He also does some amazing tricks with the rope. He can jump up as high as our heads (his dad is 6' 1'') in order the grab the end of the rope, which is pretty darn cool! It is his favorite tug toy so far!
As dog parents, we love his rope because it has lasted SO long! It was also one of the first toys he really learned how to play with, and it a great introduction to play for your dog. We do have to be careful when he is playing rope with other people, because he plays a little rough with it, but would never hurt anyone intentionally. He just gets so excited when he is playing with his rope! It also is really funny to drag him across the wood floors with the rope in his mouth. He has enough traction to pull back on the carpet, but not on the wood floors, and it is pretty entertaining to watch him try to get a grip on the slippery floors!

#2 - Kong Extreme
Amazon - $7.78
WHAT AN AMAZING INVENTION! This Kong is not only a lifesaver for dog parents, but one of Baxter's favorite things in the entire world. We crate Baxter when we leave for work or school, and we want to make sure he has something to do while he is in there. As soon as we start filling up a Kong, Baxter runs and gets in his crate because he can not wait to get the Kong. When we first got him, we bought him a normal red Kong that was the correct size for his weight, but last week he sadly ripped it in half! He had slowly been tearing it apart for a while, and so when we went to buy a new one, we decided we needed something stronger. The Kong Extreme certainly is that! It is much harder for him to get the treat out, and makes him work much harder.
As dog parents, we love the Kong Extreme because it really keeps him distracted. Whether we are leaving the house, trying to do chores, or are working on homework, the Kong steals his attention and makes our lives a lot easier! The Kong Extreme is also so strong, and I can imagine it lasting for a really long time. Do be aware, though, that it is so strong that it is even a little hard to put large sized treats into, so you will have to muscle up too!
PRO TIP - fill a Kong and freeze it over night if you want to make it even harder for your dog to get the treats out!

#1 - Chuckit! Ultra Ball!
Amazon - $7.94 (2 Pack, Medium Sized)
Our number choice for the best dog toy ever is undoubtedly the Chuckit! Ultra Ball! Baxter is so in love with his ball. Like, SO in love with his ball. He sleeps with it, he carries it with him while he walks around his house, we wake up every morning to him dropping it on our faces so we will throw it for him. When you are cooking in the kitchen, he will drop it at your feet and sit for up to 20 minutes waiting for you to play ball with him. He is constantly chewing on it and it doesn't break. This is our second Chuckit ball (the first one didn't float and sunk in a pond), and we will never get anything else! It is the best! Right now, as I type, he is curled up on our bed with the ball in his mouth. We often refer to "Ball" as the fourth member of our family, because it is such an important part of Baxter's life.
As dog parents, we love this ball for so many reasons. It is virtually indestructible, it floats, it bounces really well, it is a rubber/silicon material and so it doesn't absorb any dog slobber, and it makes my dog so darn happy. If there is any one dog toy I would want to recommend to people, it would be this one! Baxter also really loves to play fetch, and we use the ball to help run him and eat up some of his endlessly puppy dog energy. If you have a dog that loves to chew, this is great for them as well. Baxter loves to chew, and is constantly chewing on this ball. It holds up really well and uses up his chew energy in a productive way!

So those are Baxter's Top Five Best Dog Toys! I hope this gave you some good ideas for dog toys for your dog, and that you got to see some adorable pictures of Baxter as well! Now I've got to get back to playing with him; he's giving me big puppy dog eyes with his ball at my feet right now!
Love Always,
PS - What is your dog's favorite toy? Does your dog like any of the same toys that Baxter does? Leave us a reply and let us know below! We can't wait to hear from you!

*BONUS*
Here's a picture of Baxter and his popsicle! This used to be Baxter's favorite toy! This was the first toy that he ever got, and he loved it so much. It lasted for about 3 months, but he ended up slowly ripping the squeaker out of the popsicle. He was so sad when he ripped it open, and we tried to take the squeaker out and let him play with just the popsicle, but slowly the fluff started to fall out of the the popsicle and we had to throw it away!
HOWEVER! If you are looking for a cheap toy for your dog, this popsicle was TWO DOLLARS at Petco! We loved it so much!

It pays to be a lap dog. Three dogs (from First Class cabins!) survived the sinking of the Titanic – two Pomeranians and one Pekingese.
