I mentioned previously how I came to obtain these two. I was told that they love to play with Tree Branches, After having Trixie on my lap pulling out large Splinters right through Her Lip , I changed to 2 litre Cold Drink Bottles, Rope and Old Hose Pipes as a Source of Amusement.
All the Games they Play , involve lots of Growling and tugging.
A week after they joined the Family , I heard a Dreadful commotion , A family of Hadeda's were on the Kitchen Roof crying ,
I look around Trixie has a Dead Hadeda, they always travel in Families , and were, I assume, Grieving.( for about 4 hours)
She was really annoyed when I took it away from Her!
I obtained them at 2 years old and they had never been socialised with other Animals, spoke to a Dog Trainer about this , says it is too late , Bull Terriers in particular are very hard to have tolerate other animals .
These Dog's bites appear to go Septic, a Week after I got them Max's Neck Swelled from the Back , where Trixie had bitten Him, the night I collected Her. off to the Vet, Well over R2000.00 and had to leave him there over the Weekend.
A local Band comes to rehearse in My Studio , Trixie is with me , I open the door ,
She leaps straight through the air at The Bassist , I leap after her catch her before she reaches him, and take her out of there, much swearing behind me.
Called the original owners asked them if these Dogs disliked loud noise , said their house was always quiet .
When Max gets back left door open when I was working in the Studio, soon got used to Music, and Trixie would sometimes curl up in the Bass Drum while Max would lie near me on the Carpet..
Two Weeks after coming there I hear Growling from the Back Courtyard, Go running there. I see Max lying on the Top Step , Trixie is just below the Stairs and I can see something is striking at her , and I remember thinking " We don't have Scorpions here?"
I switch on the Light there is a Snake rearing up and striking at her, She is dodging , and as the snakes head goes past her , giving it a quick bite and release, I try to get Trixie away , and realise that is really stupid . If I distract her , the Snake will get her!.
No such worry , Trixie is the most focused Killing Machine I have ever seen, Nothing Distracts her!
Finally she grabs it on the neck, good shake and slams it on the Head with her right Paw , and before you can say grace , The Ex- Snake is halfway down her Gullet!
I started buying Bird seed, When I put out Dog Food for Trixie and Max in the Morning , in the Courtyard, I would throw Birdseed out the Front , this would prevent the local Doves, Pigeons Swallows, etc , becoming part of the Breakfast Victuals.
These 2 have big personalities and I will let you know more on them.
Enjoy the rest of the Weekend.
I've always had a soft spot for bull terriers but I know I don't have the personality to control a big (dangerous) dog. So I will stick to cats. We had a Staffie/Bull Terrier cross once and he was a sweetheart, but was killed by the neighbours Pit Bulls. I think they left their gate open on purpose.
When I was a child we used to go camping with friends who had a BT. I remember they would let it bite on a stick and it wouldn't let go no matter what! They would even swing him in circles in the air. It disturbed me.
I sometimes swing them on pieces of Rope, or hose. You do not want to be seen giving the one more attention than the other! Thank You for the visit.
Strange they like that!
Wow~
I love dogs.
Excellent post! I like your work My friend
Thank You, Appreciated
:-O Doggie saga continues!
Yes, Thanks.
Man my dogs just bark at the snakes but we have diamond back rattle snakes so I'm glad they don't go after them. Although 2 got bit and had super swollen faces for a while after, they both made it. Your dogs sound pretty tough!
Thanks, Quite a common Snake in our General area is called a Ringhals, Poisonous as it is born and can spit in your eyes from a good distance, related to a Cobra.
Wow that doesn't seem like a fun snake at all! Stay safe out there!
haha that is awesome
Thank You.
Thank you for sharing
My Pleasure, Thanks.
I don't know what's more dangerous, @awgbibb, the snakes or the terriers lol
True that, I personally, have had more damage from Terriers than Snakes! ( I am more cautious around snakes, of course)
ha ha, don't even mention snakes around me - BTW, your post about your dogs inspired me to write a new one - Ghost Dog - I hope it doesn't upset you

Coming Up, soon!
dangerous but loyal
Yes, but they love me, so not a problem.
Trixie is quite the feisty one ☺️👍 glad to hear that both are safe and sound and no snake would torment them ☺️👍
Was not the last Snake either, Max is a little more relaxed than Her, so when he jumps into action , it is unexpected.
Aha... It's good that both Trixie and Max can defend themselves ☺️
Wow killer indeed, it good you didn't distracted her while killing the snake.... She is a killing machine.... I love her.!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is not that affectionate, would rather cause havoc.

Cute dogs! They are very brave! Your bird video is interesting!
My old dog Blitz was my best snake dog. Mind you our snakes are not venomous here in Michigan. She loved bringing home a nice snake trophy from out in the woods!
