Hey All,
I got pretty stressed out while studying for the bar exam back in 2015, so I decided to get out of my little bubble by walking dogs at my local shelter. I loved it, and I've been doing it ever since. The Franklin County Dog Shelter (in Columbus) does a fantastic job of getting their dogs to good homes. Although it's not a no-kill shelter, I think our adoption rate hovers around 90%.
Below are some pics of dogs I've gotten to know over the years (all of which have since been adopted):
You'll notice there are lots of pitbull-esque dogs at the shelter. It's unfortunate that so many morons like to own/breed these dogs. They're a great breed, but they're often born into less-than-ideal circumstances.
Walking the dogs is usually a pretty pleasant experience. It can be a bit nippy around this time of the year, but it's better than sitting around.
Walking dogs is really just about keeping them sane and happy, so that they make a good impression on their potential new families.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy the evening, Steemians.
They look nice. You should take photos everytime you go and give steem more chance to encourage you in this endeavor!!
