THANKS STEEMIT! I Just Passed Two Thousand Posts and Over a Thousand Followers!

Wow, today I hit a couple of big milestones. First, I’ve now added over two thousands posts and comments to the steemit platform. That’s a lot of writing in just under a year! Secondly, and most exciting, I’ve finally hit a thousand followers, a goal I had hoped to complete much sooner, but was forced to postpone when the platform slowed down last fall.

So, that’s about one follower, for every two posts or comments! Wow, that’s a pretty good ratio! I want, first of all to say thanks to all of you who have read, shared, commented, voted, and followed my account! Community is what Steemit is all about in my view.

Unfortunately, that rise in followers, while it is gaining me more views, doesn’t seem to be gaining me more votes, which is odd. I think this will level out as people navigate the voting power changes and realize it’s not as limited as they think. One part of the greater views count without a rise in votes, may also be readers coming over from Facebook that are not Steemit users, reading the content without being able to vote.

There are several things I’ve noticed about topics that seem to be drawing more attention for me.

One, is crypto news. This has been a hot topic since Steemit’s inception, but seems to consistently get top payouts for several accounts. It’s been a bit of a frustrating topic for me, as my payouts have not done as well on that topic, and I’ve noticed a few who seem to be following my headlines, producing similar content and getting MUCH higher payouts a few hours later, or the next day even.

There’s always going to be leaders and followers and while I occasionally take tips from those who are getting good payouts, I make certain my content is wholly original.

My fiction is also doing well. I’ve just got one story going right now, a comedy piece entitled Bullshit Investors Club that I’m having a ton of fun writing.
My goal over the next week, will be to get at least one resteem for every post and move toward a higher average vote count. To achieve that, I’m going to be working on the Steemit.chat platform to promote posts, looking at posting times to see what seems to work best and sharing on Facebook and Google plus when I have a new post.

I’ve also been looking at some of the steemit apps, and I’m going to use randowhale a time or two and see how that works out for me.

I’ve been averaging about two and a half posts a day over the past two weeks, doing four posts a lot of days, but taking off this weekend to go out of town for my daughter’s wedding. I’m thinking I may need to establish a publishing schedule for the various types of posts I’m adding on a regular basis, for example, releasing a new Bullshit Investors Club chapter at the same time of day each day, etc. to see if that gets me anywhere.

The seven day payout, for me, at least, has not been my friend. It seems that some rewards are lost to attrition as the percentages change in the payout pool over the course of that week. I rarely see new upvotes past the first day, but adding a recap post every ten or twelve stories may help that.

I’ve also noticed people responding well to a slightly more personal note in my articles, since I’ve been sharing my own experiences as an entrepreneur. Altogether, my time back has been productive and profitable, with a gain of over 400 new followers and about $2000 in payouts expected over the next week.

If you find my posts informative and helpful, please consider upvoting, commenting and resteeming. I will return the favor as I find useful content I think other steemers could benefit from.

Mark I think you are on to something with you post timing. It seems like you are very consistent with publishing every day and I think if those who are into a certain niche of your writing would decinitly benefit from knowing they will see your posts on their blog at a consistent time. If I wrote more I will definitely steal this idea! Also I think that sometimes it's not about the quality of your posts, but the relationships we build with people. I know I'm my case, I am more likely to upvote someone that I have commented with on multiple occasions vs not. It's still a people business in my opinion. Great post👍

Congratulations buddy!!! when I grow up, I will like to be like you..haha . Your success is based on your good posts, constructive tips and hardwork...keep it upe and more success.

Thanks!

Welcome, always

Totally awesome!!
Congrats btw :)
I absolutely love this site now. I'm new to the steemit.

Thank you for the advice , i'll do that ;)

followed/upvoted/impressed! That's quite an accomplishment. Congrats and keep it up!!

Congratulations! I am new on steemit, and so far I love it because it has motivated me to get back into writing and photography. I will definitely follow you as I think you offer valuable content. Cheers for many more followers and inspiration for creating awesome content.

Glad to see you inspired to return to creative pursuits.

Congratulations on the big milestone! Hitting 1k followers, as well as 2k posts is awesome! Stick with it and keep up the good work!

Thank you, I appreciate it.

Congrats of meeting the milestone and it is not easy to reach that. I find the same about the increase in followers, i have new followers everyday but i have the similar number of upvote and interact with almost the same group everyday. And my topic is mostly basketball which i guess the audience base is quite low here :)

The percentage of active users is pretty low, in comparison to the number of accounts.

That's fantastic well done, cheers mike

Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

No worries cheers

you are nearing success!

Congratulations. 2000 posts means that you are putting in the work. 1000 followers means that you are doing a good job. Keep it up. Also it took me a couple of days to figure out that the voting isn't limited as I thought after the fork. You are right about that! Great job. Congrats.

Thanks, consistency is the key.

no doubt!!! and it helps if you have a personality too! Keep up the great work.

I've got several....

lol, yeah, I can relate.

Undoubtedly a big factor in your success. I've enjoyed reading your observations and this is no exception. I think a lot of the guppies, minnows and dolphins can take away from this something(s) that is/are sure to help them navigate the waters of this new ocean called Steemit.

I 'll have to add your Bullshit Investors Club novel to my feed for easier consumption...as I will this one.

~may all hatred cease...let there be peace~

Thank you. Nothing grates on my nerves worse than a copycat.

Well imitation...they say...is the best form of flattery but still there is variation on a theme/medium/observation...and then there's theft. I expect you speak to the latter of those two. ;-)

Well, theft is bad, but if all you can do is imitate others, there ought to be a way to permanently label your account so people know that. Not suggesting we take anything away, a vote is a vote, but voters be warned.

I'm a bit lost on what you mean by "permanently label". Are you speaking of branding?

I'm saying, there ought to be a way to warn voters of an account that is consistently plagiarist, whether direct copying, or just rewriting every word someone else is sharing.

Thanks for the clarification...and I wholeheartedly agree!
