I think I have seen every episode of all 13 seasons of Ancient Aliens and thus far they haven't presented any terribly convincing evidence. Their argument seems to be based on a premise that "ancient people must have been stupid and thus would not be able to do these things that we can do now without the assistance of aliens". Why I like it is they do present a lot of evidence that humans have always been very sophisticated. I think humans were able to build all that shit in ancient times because they possessed the same ingenuity we do. Think about it, we think our technology is sophisticated yet we ride around in vehicles that run off of petroleum distillate and have to be built, ancient people genetically engineered vehicles that run off of grass and are capable of replicating themselves. That's pretty impressive if you think about it.
On the other hand it seems incredibly unlikely that Earth would be the only planet in the universe to develop life so there are probably aliens. One imagines there are a lot better ways for a species that has mastered interstellar travel to acquire gold than having humans mine it.

I'm no engineer by any stretch of the imagination (or smart for that matter), but we live on a planet surrounded by a magnetic field. That tells me that magnetic power is something to be looked into. If you take a battery and hook it up to 1) an alternator to recharge it 2) magnetos (several in tandem) you can generate an enormous amount of power, not to mention torque. Build a vehicle out of composites to minimize weight and the sky's the limit provided you gear the thing properly. Just sayin...
it is possible to make gold in a nuclear reactor, it's not very cost effective so it is not done on a commercial scale but if an alien really wanted gold and cost was no factor they could make it.
I saw something about that... It takes something like $80 to make $1.00 worth of gold if my memory is right
