The Shining:

A man wants to find the perfect place to really boost his career. He finds a huge house which he will have complete control over for a period of time. The house has a damaged past, but he relishes that. He moves his family in even though they are clearly out of place there - they are rattling around and feel awkward, though at first it may be fun to have all the space. His kid starts seeing things, and knows that something is terribly wrong, but he can't tell his father, as his father is abusive and prone to fits of rage. His father also has a consumption problem and is quick to splutter strange outbursts, and soon the combination of being stuck in this terrible place along with the echos of the past haunting him, starts to have effects on his mental health...we see cracks appear quickly...he starts getting angry at those around him at the slightest inconvenience, but he knows as it happens that he may be losing it.

Eventually he snaps and turns completely on his family, who by now are terrified of him. They believed that he would take them to this paradise for five months and that this would build the future that he had promised them...but they end up having to defend themselves against him, and even to lock him up.

The final, terrifying scenes are of the protector turning slowly crazy as the powers eat him up from the inside...in the end, he is simply a cold, hard shell...

Heeeerrrrre's Donnie!

The Donald has inspired various film characters in the past, but it feels to me that this may be the first time he is mirroring a film character himself. I find The Shining an even more terrifying film when I see the weird parallels with the other big, white house...
