Today, I will be explaining how to make doughnut in a simple way.
First, what is a doughnut: doughnut is a simple snack that is made up of flour, sugar, yeast and other ingredients. It can be taken anywhere and anytime.
The equipments needed are:
- Bowls.
- Trays.
- Measuring spoons.
- Sieve.
- Rolling pin.
- Spatula.
- Whisker or a fork if you don't have one.
- Cup.
- Deep fryer. E.g. a pot or deep-frying pan.
Ingredients:
- 2 and half cup of flour.
- 4 table spoons of sugar.
- 4 tea spoons of yeast.
- 1 cup of milk.
- 2 medium sized eggs.
- 1 bottle of oil.
These above listed ingredients will make a minimum of 10 doughnuts.
Steps:
Sieve your flour using a net sieve, this is to make the flour light.
Whisk your egg using a whisker or a fork till foam.
Mix your flour, sugar and yeast in a separate bowl.
Whisk your egg and milk together in another bowl.
Pour your egg and milk mixture in your flour mixture and mix very well.
Knead on a well flour surface for minutes until smooth.
Cover with a napkin and keep in an enclosed area. And allow to rise for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
After taking it out it should be already doubled in size.
Preheat your oil in a low heat.
After taking it out, put it in a tray and use a rolling pin to flatten it till it’s like half an inch.
Use a doughnut cutter to cut it. Note: if you do not have a doughnut cutter you can use a round plate or cup with a small bottle cover to cut your doughnut,
Now it’s time to fry: remember that you’ve preheated your oil in a very low heat, so all you have to do is to increase the heat of your fire a bit and then start frying.
Deep fry for 1 minutes until the both sides are brown to your satisfaction.
Note: the yeast is not to only make it swell but also to make it soft.
