It's something they've been doing for ages. It's become a part of them.

Multiculturalism is great, but that does not mean everything deemed part of a "culture" is ok and should continue, even if they have done if for a long time, especially anything forced. Obviously not everyone is forced into the situation that you speak of and for those that want to be in the situation and have the option to leave it, then I have nothing against wanting a bride/groom price or dowry. Key is being able to opt out or leave.
