I believe in this idea that some things can be achieved if enough people are brought together to achieve it. In the case of freeing the man, it required quite a few people pushing on the train to move it enough to free the man. However, not all situations are going to have solutions requiring so many people, and it wasn't the crowd that decided how to best free the man.

So, in situations where there's a need for everyone to pull or push in the same direction, I think it's great. Coming together to solve issues that might have similarities but can't have universal solutions, however, generally fails. People need to have the ability to come up with and implement their own solutions in order for many things to work.

I guess, then, I'm saying it depends on how this unity principle is employed, and what's required of each individual, before I can totally say yes, but it's obvious that it definitely has applications and works in some situations.
