Do you wear a hearing aid?
Do you wear a hearing aid? There are numerous reasons why you would need one, such as being hard of hearing, or wearing one to mask interfering internal noise such as tinnitus?
(optional) Where you born like this, or did it happen in an accident or just as you're getting older? What type of hearing aid do you use?
I have had one for the past few years, I was born with bad hearing in my right ear, it's all damaged in there. Then since my mid 20s I started to get this phantom noise in my ear, which is this high pitch sound which is always there (known as tinnitus), it got to to point where it was very distracting so I went and got it checked out. That's when I got a hearing aid, not only did it help with my hearing, it helps distract the tinnitus throughout the day. I wear a Behind-the-Ear (BTE) type, one of the newer smaller ones, most people don't even realise I have one.

Even low volume (low db/sound pressure) exposure over a long period of time will cause hearing damage. (Exhaust fans, engine noise, AC vibrations)
City people tend to have more hearing damage than rural people.
IMHO, musicians should insert ear plugs before the loudness starts to reduce your sense of being out of touch. My dynamic awareness is stronger this way.
I try to keep volume of things as low as I can. Ironically my hearing in my other ear is better than the average person. lol, so maybe if I was born without this defect I would have been the same in the other ear.
