I think in that case it would be better to try zip-line kind of action, if he has got a belt or something to use. Momentum can be gained by slight giving a run start. Then the load on the rope would not be on a specific point for long and rope breakage can be avoided.
Great thinking so far. But, I think he should throw his sword over to the otherside to minimize the total weight. That will make it easier and faster to grap the rope, and move to the otherside

even if spear will come out he should not leave his grip on rope ,he will still be safe

this is best drawing ever i seen. and a better idea to go front side.but it has a big risk that if he fall down he can die.
Keep a good hold of the rope and start across. he at least has a hold of the rope if it the spear does pull out.
Our hero should be careful enough and shouldn't look downward while climbing through
Oh well maybe it's strong enough and maybe it's not. But he doesn't have a choice so go on with it.
as it is our superhero will do it so fast, that there will be no chance that the other end will fall and may arrive: D
