Warrior

in #drawing6 years ago (edited)

Here is a devil warrior. I'm really into drawing these guys because of the freedom and power they give.

Here is a little bit about the process of my drawings, not sure if it's how proper arting is supposed to be done, but it is how I do it works for me.

First, I draw the base on red, sometimes i can be looking at the board for an hour until something comes out...

a1.png

Then i draw the outlines with black. Some people say that you should never use black, but I just like it and i use it...The thing about art is freedom.

Then goes a layer with the base colors.

Now two layers of shading.

a5.png

And finally a transparency layer with a gradient :)

And here is a video of the process. It took a while but I hope you enjoyed watching it :)

I like how your art turned put to be, I like his hair, the color and how it has the effect of being blown by the wind, I am not so sure about the horn though but well, its a part of the idea, yeah? The look in his eyes, its subtly fierce yet calm....

Great painting, and you were quite fast to have finished it within an hour...

Thank you! Yes, the idea is to make the character designs as different as i can make them, and that includes their horn's designs :)

Hey this is really great drawing. I enjoyed watching the video, you really know what you're doing and I like this guy, he looks like he has an attitude :D.

Black is both a color and a value, it doesn't make sense to discard it in artistic production so ... to the stake those who tell you that!

Good illustration, very complete despite the speed with which it was made (which says a lot of your skills)

You are absolutely right! Thank you!

You are fast to finish the drawing in about an hour. Thanks for sharing it here.

He is handsome and powerful! Just remove those horns will you? 😃 Kidding aside, the horns make him more daring. You have very good imagination of the warrior's character.

The sword is of pyramid shape! This is my first time to see one like that. I thought that' gonna be a challenge at war when you strike and the flat side hits the enemy instead of the blade. 😊

Thanks! I imagine his sword style would be more like piercing forward (something like esgrima) to fight other armored Warriors, thats why his sword Is shaped like that. Tho, to be honest i just wanted to draw a different shape of blade XD

i just wanted to draw a different shape of blade

That is the beauty in art. You have the flexibility to adjust according to your liking and creativeness because yes, artists have different purposes on what they want to portray. 😊

very solid and clean your composition, I like the look with the horns and colors you have used. the pose is not common and that has caught my attention.

I ecanta the grip of the sword, has nice details, his bandages on the fingers denote activity and possible injuries from fights. great.

this very good your step by step ... I do not know if using black or red or green or any color is appropriate to make a sketch, but you do well, continue.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful creation.

Greetings

Thank you! I'm glad you noticed those little details.

People can say whatever they want but you're the artist and you decide how your artwork will look like. I like your approach and this is what I like on art. It is very subjective and everyone can do whatever they feel they like to do at that particular moment.

I like your devil warrior. He tries to look tough but I can see that he is has a good personality :) Even those horns are adorable! I like your detailed progress photo and I enjoyed watching your video too!

Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend!

Thanks! Art should be about freedom and enjoy the creation of a piece! You read the character just right :D

So good man! So good. I'm amazed at how well you're able to draw with computer software. It's something I've always wanted to do but don't know the first thing about how I would.

Watching your video is so satisfying. The final image is fantastic but watching it come together line by line, tone by tone, is such a cool thing to see. All condensed into 85 seconds when it must have taken you hours. Such a cool process.

It's always good to know the underlying basics of any craft but I'd never worry about if you're doing it "right." Who's standard would it be by? I don't think one exists other than the one you set for yourself. Keep drawing my friend! You have a great talent for it.

Cheers!

Thanks! It took me a while to get usted to draw digitally, but nothing that constant practice and web tutorials can't help you with :) and you may not be happy with the first results, but with time you get where you want. Have a great day.

Great advice. I say the exact thing about video editing so I know it's possible. Cheers!

This one reminded me of Shirou Emiya from the Fate Stay Night Series. The facial expression bears the resemblance. Do you like watching anime?

Haha more like when he Is archer, tho. And yes, i love anime and manga :P

Love it, Barb !!! Gorgeous design and you know how I love your stuff, already, so congrats for curie :D :D :D

Its really nice to see how the piece grows in depth as you add on layers of color. 👍

Wow amazing...Could be that you took at least a bit of inspiration from Naruto characted Darui? or maybe you watched Naruto and it happened without you even knowing it. I immediately thought of Darui when saw your pic haha :D Great work man!

Great pose and pallet. You're cel shading is nice.

howdy there barbhr! Great job on this character, he looks authentically bad with those big horns! Very believable and the video is really cool to be able to see it all come together, so great job!
Do you do alot of these types of artwork?

It is a cool looking devil warrior @barbhr. I like his horns and he looks like a good warrior. The B&W version looks good too. Thank you for showing us the process. I love how you do what you like and as you like it, no rules, just freedom. And inspiration comes when it comes. I stare at my work for hours too sometimes, waiting for inspiration.
