Drawing has always been the greatest passion in my life. Self-taught trough experience and time is the way I learned to find my own style. In that style wild animals always fascinated me. The wolf is one of them..
At the start of a drawing I always draw one of the eyes first. Because The eyes are the most important in drawing a live subject. They can make or break a realistic drawing.
I never want to see the white of the paper when I draw realistically. So I make use of a base color.
The base color is a light color what you see most in a certain area. In the wolf a light brown color (Caran'dache Luminace French Gray 30%) is the base.
Afterwards I use different darker colors (French Gray, Sepia and Black) to make more hairs. I do this until the howl area is filled with pigment.
Afterwards I use a craft knife to "scrape" of pigment. This creates lighter hairs and gives a 3D structure in the fur. Also I use a mechanical pencil to add extra dark hairs, and give the fur a more detailed texture.
To finish the fur I use a white watercolor marker to create "white hairs", and I use the knife to scrape them into thin lines.
To add the lightest part as last creates a nice "shine" and realism to the wolf.
And this is my progress so far. I hope to show you the end result in a while, and ofcourse I'll post the process photos with it.
With love,
