Sketching Jerusalem哭墙

我的素描：西墙，又名哭墙，耶路撒冷。
这是老城内第二大开放的广场，就在圣殿山旁边。但是犹太人不准上圣殿山，所以他们只好在这里聚集。
曾几何时，这是一个与附近的穆斯林区相同的民居区，但是在1967年的六日战争期间，这里的房屋被毁坏了（是不是故意的？），战后创造了这样的一个巨大的露天广场。犹太人使用这地点作为一个露天犹太教堂来做崇拜。有时候，你可以看到一些年轻的犹太新兵在这里宣誓效忠国旗。来到这广场，人们的情绪总是很兴奋的。

My sketch: The Western Wall, aka the Wailing Wall, Jerusalem.
This is the second open plaza within the Old City, beside the Temple Mount. However Jews are not permitted to go up to Temple Mount, therefore they would gather here instead.
Once upon a time, this was a residential quarter same as the Muslim Quarter near by, but during the Six Day War of 1967, the houses here were damaged and torn down (was that deliberate?), and created the huge open plaza. The Jews use this as an open air synagogue for worship. And from time to time, you can see companies of young Jewish soldiers here taking their solemn vow pledging allegiance to the flag. The emotions at the plaza is always very high.
