Spider Coccoon

in #drawing7 years ago (edited)

There was once a spidery contents here but a spider has now put them inside coccoons.... Like Shelob did with Frodo Baggins~ Or maybe like those fleshy things in Aliens before the chestburster bursts out of them~ Yep, like one of those things :D

Sort:

This is a great attempt, spidy, especially as your first foray into watercolour. Very lovely sketch design and I like all the colours that you put on the paper. My favourite is the water part, wooo, nice blue and flow-ey!

Very successful exercise, good job good job 👍. I hope you will use all 10 papers on the pad and share us the result :).

Thanks scrawler <3 I donno if imma do more soon, but i will try to at least fill up the pad, i guess. The waiting to let things dry thing is kinda not my thing. I get distracted easily so this watercolour thing is making the whole process super long for me, like I am the type that needs to focus and keep at it until I reach a point where I need a break and/or finally finishing. But being forced to actually stop to wait until the thing dry made me go browse the net and do other things and so on.... in a way, it feels like stop-start-stop-start

A spider isn't a fan

XD;;;;

Thank you for kind comments, as always <3

breaking new ground @veryspider, good stuff :)

Thanks, klums <3

Watercolour was a pretty good choice for this one though, it looks amazing XD You really like playing with all the hard stuff don't you XP

goatsig

XD i didn't know it was gonna be hard~ but ya, i kinda like trying new stuff out :D is fun and exciting :D (even if it occasionally makes accidental simpsons-esque skin tones).... XD

thanks ryry

This looks beautiful :D I'm quite impressed with how well you did with watercolours, I've tried making it work quite a few times, but watercolours can be tricky as hell XD anyways keep up the good work, I'll look forward to seeing more of his work soon :)

Thank you thank you :D I am surprised myself that watercolours seems to be more agreeable compared to coloured pencils and pastels for me :O

I'm loving this one. It looks great. I love the water part the most, it is the first thing that catches my eye. I can almost feel the water

thank you soju <3 such a lovely comments * __ * aaaaaa <33333333

Thank youuuuuuuu~

This is my zodiac sign :) And I'm so glad that this girl! :)

ooooooooh veta is aquarian?? :D that's so lovely~ thank you for kind comments <3

Aquarius, the Bringer of Knowledge. What a cute depiction of my sign. I drew one many years ago, as a long-haired warrior angel pouring water from a large jug, and with two snakes at his feet.

wowoh!! your aquarius sounds super cool !!! i wanna see him ! is he on your steemit? :O

It's an old drawing I made back in 1997 or 98, before I entered the crazy world of traditional animation.

I don't know if it's still with me, as we had been through a lot of floods in the previous years. I guess I'll just have to redraw it someday and post it here.

Are you an Aquarian too? :)

yes pls, redraw ! i'd like to see this awesome aquarius !

no, im a capricorn, i think :D

Well, for someone that has no idea how to blend I must say you did an awesome job. This one is really nice. I also started using watercolouring pencils recently and I did not manage to get an end result like this. Great job, you will only get better at it!

aaaaaaaaaa thank you ! this one wasn't pencil, more like little pods of colours and then it also comes with one brush and it blends when you use them on the paper? kind of? i have never used the pencil-watercolour ones, but they sounds really interesting !!!

you should also keep at them because you are talented and really good <3

Thank you! I really like the pencils they draw really nice (Faber Castell brand) I also tried one other brand, and I didnt like those.. I returned them to buy these instead..

I still have to learn what works best with the pencils and the normal watercolour paint though. but time will tell ;)

Hard to believe that was the first time. Love the process and the fact that you shared what you learned during it. I see in your comments that you arent sure when you will try it again - it should be soon! I think the final piece seems so refined and elegant.

ranwan! hello~

oh yeah, to be honest i was also surprised that i took to watercolours better than i did to coloured pencils and pastels.... i thought i'd do better with coloured pencils (at least) because i work with regular pencils a lot and coloured pencils are still pencils???? but no :O???

i like the looks of watercolours, but the thing that i am finding difficult to work with is the 'waiting for things to dry' bit, it's really distracting :3

i will definitely try to make more, though! at least to fill up the pad! I'll just have to... properly plan to allocate time to do them... i think if i can set it aside and then draw other things in the meanwhile, i'll be able to keep going back to the watercolours... :thinking emoji: time management is a skill !

Thank you for kind comments and interest in me . __ . I am very honoured * ___ *

Awesome, did you say ..1st try at watercolor? wow. cool. I don't have much experience with it either, but like to dabble in it. I had the same question about skin tones at some point a while back. I had to put my thinking cap on, but remembered that I looked here for the answer to that..

http://ella-jackson.com/art/how-to-mix-skin-tones-in-watercolour/

Best of luck with it! See you around Steemit!

P.S. - I joined the discord..Thanks for informing me about it.

OH WOW this is a great tutorial, about skin tone ! but i dont have these colours... but i will try to mix with the ones i have :D Thanks so much!!!

Yes, I haven't done watercolours before, but it was friendlier to me than I thought it'd be ! Very surprising. Previously, I tried coloured pencils and pastels, thinking they would be more familiar to someone who uses pencils loads, but NO! This was not true ! (for me)

You are super talented, I'm sure your watercolours would be smashing <3

And, welcome to Discord!!! Im happy to see you there :D

Thank you for the compliment. Have you thought about watercolor pencils? They have their own set of challenges but are affordable and fun.
