What, so everybody’s supposed to sleep every single night now? You realize night time makes up half of all time? - Rick Sanchez
A brief catch-up:
About 5 years ago I took an English class where my teacher had us choose a Heroic Journey. "Don't worry." — she assured us. "Just choose something, anything, to learn. A language, a skill, whatever. And you'll be writing about your progress all semester."
Below is my third journal entry for my "Heroic Journey", describing my first venture into the Lucid world...
February 2012,
Feeling arms reach out of the wall and bed — grabbing hold of me, is to this day the most crazy hypnogogic sensation I have experienced. But it's always at least a lil trippy and pretty intense.
For more info about hypnogogic hallucinations and the process of meditating into a lucid dream, peep Chapter 2: https://steemit.com/life/@avesa/if-you-don-t-like-your-dreams-change-them-journey-of-a-lucid-dreamer-2-dream-with-me
As soon as I had one Lucid dream, it was on. Below are pictures of early lucid dreams from the journal I kept besides me every night, to wake and write any dreams I could remember. Since my half-asleep-handwriting is whack, I wrote transcriptions for each one.
Slid off the bed, was about to break through. Weird feeling comes over me. A group of people yells & start singing happy birthday. woke up.
Become lucid, and am in a house with a lot of people in it. There's this little kid that had a condition that every once in a while he would freeze up and if anything moved him, it hurt really bad, until he took one of his pills his mom would give him. Many of my friends were there too, specifically Megan. I talked to her about it being a dream. She didn't think it was. We, and a few other people, went on the roof. I just jumped/flew up. And as part of a way to prove that we were in a dream, I used a rope to effortlessly pull Megan up to the roof too. The dream seemed to last a long time; I eventually awoke or lost lucidity.
Opened my eyes, did reality checks. I'm in a dream. Caught my bearings, then walked out of my room to see my dad baking and Lexi (my dog) ran up to be petted. I experimented yelling, made some progress there. Instead of trying to force air out of my lungs, expect/imagine an audible voice. My yell was only spoken and the voice was not my own. I tried a cookie which was super delicious, then went outside. It was cloudy. I flew around a bit, which gets easier and easier. Went inside and then a phone call woke me up.
Bonus:
at the top of that written dream is the bottom of another where a dream character made up a cheesy dad joke.
"There's a knight at a joust that never shuts up, what is he?"
..A Shhh-kabob.
HA.... dum i kno.....
With more dreams, I had more practice and was encouraged to do even more reality checks during the day; I started realizing I was dreaming in the middle of normal dreams and my dream control continued to develop. Here's a fun one...
Was running from the cops in my car. Really just driving and didn't notice they were trying to pull me over for a while. The cop behind me tried to run me off the road. I kept trying to pull over, but traffic wouldn't let me. More and more cops were trippin, trying to run me down. I decided to actually run. Got out of my car and was running, trying to find a ledge to hang off of or somewhere to hide. I realized "this is a dream, I would've noticed they were trying to pull me over in real life." At this point I was being chased in this high altitude jungle gym. 70 ft high or so. I jumped off with a flip and landed softly on the ground. The cops were like "oh shit." One tried to slide down after me but I Force pushed him back up and away. I decided to fly away. And tried to but couldn't very well. Was basically Hulk jumping with more grace. I decided to stop trying to fly and look for some mushrooms. I walked through a little forest into a clearing where I saw Dylan on top of a hill. He had 2 swords and we joined forces of course. He was embarrassed a little, he had just come from a dream of slaying a bunch of zombies.... (cont.)
(cont.)... I thought that was pretty dope. We walked up the hill looking for mushrooms when all of a sudden we noticed a bunch of rattlesnakes were strategically placed, boobytrapping our path. I almost got bit. We started hopping through, dodging them, stepping on some of their heads. It was intense. Maybe too much so, cause then I awoke.
Lucid dreaming has brought so much excitement to my life. I couldn't decide if I was either playing life's built-in ultimate virtual reality or having psychedelic out of body experiences. It's a little of both. And I've only just barely scratched the surface.
Things continue to intensify and my skills and dream control continue to increase in Chapter 4.
