I fell asleep, and I saw all the kind faces in my life appear before me. My family and all my friends, my mentors and teachers I'd made throughout my walkabout. All hanging out like that's all we'd ever done before. Everyone was happy and getting along. Long lost inside jokes crashed through dream speak like far away mortars, and lobbed themselves into the ringing twilight as if I'd heard them every day. People who were too wonderful for this world had shed their burial garments and we're sitting on park benches with red Solo cups in their hand. A select few shook off the iridescent, rainbow glow from their shaggy fur and tore through the tall grass with abandon to greet all the others. Adventures were had, hugs, high fives and what's goods dropped in excess.
The more I write the less I remember. I can say this though.
I woke up, and stared through the black at my ceiling from my sofa. A large sigh passed my lips as I sat up and wiped the sweat from my brow. Yawning loudly while my eyes teared up, I felt sick, realizing with much regret that none of that was real. This was real.
