Drones have been attacked by eagles on many occasions and that's just what happened recently in Unalaska; a city in Alaska.
The incident occurred last month, when according to a internet firm from the region, they were out in the area trying to use a drone to make a video for a satellite internet service company.
The drone that they were using is estimated to cost around $6,000 and when it was flying above Captains Bay, that is when the eagle swooped down and attacked it, causing the device to fall and land in the bay.
They haven't seen the drone since.
There have been many reports of eagles attacking drones. Just a couple of months ago, an eagle attacked a drone that had been flying over a farm in Australia (see image above).
And one quick search on Youtube will show that there are thousands of different videos showing eagles attacking a variety of drones.
It hasn't just been by accident either, in some instances there are eagles being trained to specifically target drones.
It's been reported that the French military has already been training eagles in order to attack and cripple enemy drones.
The Dutch police have also reportedly been using eagles to try and take down drones as well.
It hasn't only been the eagles that have attacked the drones either. There are videos of them being hit by a variety of birds; an attack from a goose on at least one occasion.
Drones have been attacked and/or taken down by birds, chimps, kangaroos, a ram, even by one very annoyed looking fisherman at the pier. It can clearly get very interesting for drone operators, they never know what they might see, or what might try to attack their property.

Unalaska, Alaska? This has to be the greatest name for a town, ever!
wow, i need to keep eagle in my house
Sameeeee
Eagles are badass! organic drones killer
Beautiful to post!!
interesting!
@doitvoluntarily
Mother nature has a funny way of saying "That's cute, but NO, just NO." Sadly enough, as we speak there are probably companies/individuals who are 1) proposing legislation to "protect the value of assets", or 2) just doing it underhandedly.
I would love to see a Netflix documentary on this one, and I would guarantee it would be a blast to film
I just hope the eagles don't end up hurt!
Goodness!I have a yuneec drone and I'd be real upset if that happened I see hawks around here but thank goodness I've never seen an eagle here , really interesting I didn't know this happened. Thank you for the information have a great Sunday!🕊
Thats freakn crazy! Great post!
I love the AMERICAN EAGLES over the NWO DRONES. We the people by the people and for the people with the eagles on our side. Thanks. Upvoted. Resteemed.
Amazing. I wonder if we'll see enough drones taken down to see Eagles starting to make nests out of the dismantled bits. :)
That would certainly be something
When eagles see the technology as too great a threat and use it to build a secret eagle cave and weapons to plot against the invasion of drones. #halfeaglehalfdrone
nice pic...
awesome comment...
The developers of drones can implement modifications in order to prevent it from eagle attack, like switching a circuit so as to harm its enemies. That would be helpful i suppose.
Anyway, training birds inorder to attack drones is a good idea indeed.
Thanks for sharing.
Tech against nature, who will win 😉. My bet is on nature. Drone craze went too far so this will calm down few people.
People will always find a creative way to fight back.
Those geese are no joke!
Now that's funny! They do seriously injure people though, that's true...they grab you and twist your skin!
Luckily I haven't experienced it first hand...although I usually turn around if I see one while on a run.
I would bite that goose.
BORK!
Amazibg, very beautifull picture, thank for sharing, good luck.
Super cool! Eagles are badass!
Wow! Great pics too. Thanks!
Sometimes these drone can be hazardous. I am glad that they have found a way to control these drones.
Got drones flying over your property? Don't shoot it down, you could get in trouble with the law.
Call 1-800-protect and get your very own eagle already trained to take down those pesky spy drones. .
I like this
eagle should be also healthier than drone. because powerful drone can hurt eagle .
Nice! Nature vs technology!
very beautifull pictures, thank for sharing, goid luck.
That is crazy!
Does the eagle win every time? . Cheers mike
But what happens if the drone is armed? they could get killed poor things, if drones are advanced enough with radar technology they could pick the eagle on radar before it even reaches them they could use their gun if have any, however what happens to the eagle when hit by the drone moving parts?
Eagles are territorial birds.. some strange object flying around will make them hostile and being a badass bird.. its nature they attack and take them down.
Maybe we see eagle proof drones some day.
I just bought my mavic pro still a little scared to fly it far away... have to get used to it! Let's hope there is no eagle or something else what takes it down....
It's got to be ruff on the old legs sometimes with the propellers don't you think?
good
Does this also work on government drones? :D
We are enemies to the animals . And we prove this daily .
Woah, even drones don't have it easy :) That's surely a costly loss and something that drone owner's might need to address.
It is a great threat for the drones. Even drones are the future of the technology and it will be used in many ways but these types of instances have to be handled carefully.
Really interesting!
For some reason it just cracks me up to imagine an expensive piece of equipment getting pwned by a bird of pray just to show it who's the boss of the sky. I'm glad to be reminded that in human-nature interaction it's nature that has the upper hand regardless of our destructiveness. As George Carlin once said if nature gets tired of us it's gonna sneeze us away. Btw. very amuzing piece you wrote.
Love the post! We are trying to develop the drone niche on this platform and get some great content like this on Steem. Thank you!
Thanks
