You Suck!!!
Have you ever had that thought going through your head? Never? Then stop here.
If you've ever told yourself that:
a) You're wrong - so hush!
b) Cut yourself some slack - please.
c) If you don't screw up once in a while you would never learn anything and then yes.... you would, in fact, suck.
Sesame Street is brought to you today by the word: ENCOURAGE
What exactly is encouragement? It differs from motivation because it comes from external sources. It could be someone's words, it could be something you read or watched or it could just be something you saw in nature.
When you get that lift of encouragement it spawns motivation. Motivation to make a change. A difference. A change in habit or in reaching a higher state of being.
When we are down we all need a little encouragement to climb out of the hole.
So, how should we encourage others?
A positive word or comment? An affirmation of their self-worth? Some information that helps them unravel the difficulty they are facing? The solidarity that they are not alone and you've been in their shoes before? A little "cheerleading"?
Yes, yes and yes. All of the above.
For me, personally, I am trying to encourage everyone to live a more healthy life. Why? Why do I care?
Well, I care because I've seen the devastation that living unhealthfully brings. Unfortunately, by the time that devastation arrives, it is almost impossible to reverse.
It devastates the person, their family, their community, the world.
Considering the rising costs of healthcare and the rising costs (monetary and personal) of chronic diseases, many of which could be mitigated by changing habits to those which promote health, my passion is to educate and ENCOURAGE everyone I can to follow the path to health.
This is my passion, I know all of you reading have your own passions. I encourage all of you to find your passion, follow it and make your mark - whether it be on your family, the community or the world.
In Peace, Love and Health.

Many Thanks to the awesome people over at Steemit Creators' Guildfor proofreading and offering constructive criticism.
I totally understand and agree with encouraging healthy behaviours. One of the biggest resistances is that we will all die anyway. However, when you consider the Quality of Life, diseases and illnesses (that are sometimes preventable) bring so much more pain. It's nice that you want others to have a better life. It's better for the community as a whole, but also for the individual's themselves.
Yes, we will all die eventually but as you mention it's the quality of life that matters. Living a healthy lifestyle increases the chances of a longer "healthspan." I want everyone's lifespan to be lived in good health.
Thanks for reading @poetrybyjeremy. See you soon! XXXOOO
So many times we've tried to encourage our families to live healthier lives- and have had to refrain after time....
(kinda about what i talk about in my post heheheh when helping is not so helpful ;)
but i am glad that we have a great balance of all kinds of people in our group. and the helpful attitude is fueled by love :)
thank you for always encouraging us, my friend (even when we're not in the room together... i still see you hehehe)
Seems the group really is on the same wavelength. It is so hard when those you are trying to encourage are just blocked. I've had my fair share of that as well.
All we can do is remain lovingly supportive and the right time for each in their own personal journey will present itself.
See you soon! XXXOOO
You're so right! It's awful to know that you could have been so much healthier and happier if you had just eaten a little better years ago. Thank you for caring about others - you rock :)
Believe me! I used to eat nachos 24/7! I found my way to this path later in life. The great thing is that the human body is incredible with an unlimited capacity to heal so long as you treat it right.
You are NOT too late! Rejoice in the fact that you’ve found your way to the right path now and don’t worry about the past because you can’t change it. Keep looking forward with happiness in your heart because you’ve evolved.
Sending much love!
I love your passion @tamala, and I love that you want to encourage other to lead a healthy lifestyle.. which is never easy!! People always tend to take the easier path which is usually the unhealthy path, whether it be because of time or money, or whatever the case, following the healthy path is easier said than done. Kudos to you for what you do... you're awesome doll... keep up the good work!! XOXO
Thanks monch! You’re the best! And so very supportive!
It does take some work to stay on the healthy path but once you’re there and you feel so much better, in every possible way, tit’s so motivating to keep going.
In Peace, Love, Health, and an occasional “diversion” - T
I will not say I ever stray - because I do, but those are the little treats of life to savor and enjoy and then get right back on the path. Once your body is strong and healthy those little diversions don’t take the same kind of toll as when your whole life is the diversion.
Encouragement is always appreciated! Some people don't receive it as well as perhaps we'd like, but I think the thought/effort counts. Leading through example helps too. Yay for healthy living!
Isn't that the truth! Not everyone is open to receive encouragement at different times of their life, but so long as we don't take it personally, and remain present in friendship/love it all works out in the end. And YES YAY for healthy living!
Thanks for stopping by!
I am going to focus on the suckage.
Yes that is 100% , you would never learn anything if you do not try and instead of trying to tell yourself no you don't suck but still not going like Thomas the Little Engine that could, it helps to at times just accept you suck at a specific thing or that thing, or because of this thing. Many things that can be the core to your suckage.
Accept it and then instead of just saying No I don't suck you say well how can I suck less at it and then go Choo! Choo! and as for finding encouragement to keep going, you will most likely already know of a source which you have not noted until then but it will provide you with the means of encouragement. Kind of like how you never notice red cars but one day all you see are red cars?
You do make me realize that encouragement does not need to be some grand show, but it is a daily thing one does for things that will improve lives in the grand scheme of life , such as your focus on health and believing that those people can although they do not think it is needed or is too much of a challenge.
I like to actually assist the "technologically disadvantagedPC Police" people with their phones when they come print, simple things like helping them make an album so we can copy the images off, I may over explain because I want them to realise that it is not difficult it just takes some thought and willingness, this can be applied then to other "tech" things they feel are scary - i.e. these are old people, real real old people but many are far less whiney now and help themselves so that is a win.
Pen! The tech evangelist! That’s great that you help those people! Can you fly to the states and get my dad sorted?
As for the suckage - yes that’s a good point - one does need to acknowledge their limitations. I prefer to emphasize my strengths and work on those limitations that bug me.
For instance - I have severe suckage at any sport involving a ball and hand-eye (or foot) coordination - NOT happening! Now this particular limitation doesn’t bother me - I just focus my athletic prowess elsewhere.
But we all have this biological machine of a body - and without that, healthy and strong, we can’t accomplish our passions and goals. Just consider how everything falls apart when you have a cold. Imagine a chronic disease affecting you like that everyday. That’s where we want to minimize suckage and maximize health.
So from “Courage the Cowardly Dog” and “The Little Engine that Could” I thank you for your excellent insights and appreciate you helping your “disadvantaged” clients with their hurdles.

Follow the path to health! This speaks to me more than you could imagine. Health is one of the things we all take for granted. Only we are deprived of it, we realize its importance.
So true! Only when some people close to me got a dreaded diagnosis did I really kick myself into gear.
My hope is to plant that realization in the community BEFORE so the dreaded diagnosis can be avoided all together - or at least put you on better footing.
Health is your #1 asset!
In Peace, Love, and Health!
