They just said that to calm everyone down.. everyone was outraged when they announced that they were switching to future tokens... they said it would take place in 24 hours.... everyone threw a fit so they said they were delaying it and giving us the option... its not really true. Theyre just going to do away with steem. This was just an ico. Pretty good idea forcing people to unknowingly invest though.
I think they changed their mind and went full Future.
