THE DRUM CODE THAT ALWAYS STANDS OUT

in #drumming7 years ago

In today’s world, drummers are found almost everywhere, in churches, in the studios, in clubs, events and ceremonies and even at homes. The quest to find that one perfect drummer is not something to come by. Ask me why? The fact is there is no one perfect drummer out there but good drummers who are getting better every day. Just when you thought you have found one, you discovered another one even better than the first one. The desire to be among the very best is something you got to work for. It will require dedication and serious hard work but it will surely be paying back for a good at the very end. These are few tips I think would push you up to the top.

UPDATE YOUR MUSIC LIBRARY

Yes, you got to. The music community has really evolved and still in the evolving process with new genres, beats patterns and styles evolving almost every day. Every artist, especially the live stage performers desire very up-to-date drummers who can keep the music rolling.
As a drummer you got to keep a steady update on your music box. There are hundreds of songs popping out on the ITunes and Amazon every day, a take from there would be good. You could check on *** www.worshiptogether.com*** for new gospel songs, that’s if you are sorely on gospel.

EXTRA PRACTICE

Practice they say makes perfection and you got to keep to those words alive. Practice like it’s no man business. I do make sure I get my hands on my drumsticks and snare drum very morning and try to do same in the evening. It helps me a lot to always keep in mind of my rudiments and other drum affairs I have, I can’t erase them now, it’s now part of me. Anywhere you are opportune to meet the drums, make sure you practice. You could also time yourself probably with a timer and also try improving your speed with a metronome. As a drummer, drumming got to be a part of your life and to make that happen you got to practice, big time.

PLAY TO THE RHYTHM

Ever been in an event where the drummer is making you go wild and suddenly hear him go off the rhythm of the song, maybe an offbeat probably to impress his audience and you are like “ok, that’s good” and it happens again and again and again and it starts becoming awkward and makes the song no more enjoyable. To the drummer, he is rocking the event, but to the audience its now boring. That’s the mistake drummers tend to make these days. Play to the rhythm, no need to rush. You will still be applauded at the end. Take your time and let the rhythm flow and if you would like to input a solo work or probably an offbeat, do it at appropriate times and maybe if given the chance to do so and not at every moment. Much of it tend to stop the flow. Be disciplined.

WORK WITH OTHER MUSICIANS

Working with other musician is of really great help to your advancing to the top. They will help you immensely in giving feedback, also help synchronize with your play and make suggestion in your playing technique. From these, you could gather your mistake and improve them and adding more groove to area that needs them. You could also learn few stuffs from other drummers like you who you think are better than you in some areas. Ask questions and adapt to their own play too. You never can tell what nice stuff you could pick out from your music friends.

Even on your own spare time, you could work out ideas for yourself. Try adding newer pattern to your already existing patterns. Opportunities are always abounding, so do make sure you grab them. Building your experience by applying these ideas you get creatively. You will be surprised at the awesome stuffs you could come up with.

These tips with greatly ensure your stand out amongst thousands of great drummers out there. It only takes time and dedication to make these happen. So you got to be extra patient. Remember, don’t rush it and let the rhythm flow.
