"Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again." This phrase from the ancient book Ecclesiastes is interpreted by some to refer to sharing your abundance with those around you, whether on a global scale or to a community based level. This new song from Tamplynn Family Band draws on that sentiment with visceral throat singing and stripped down percussion and delivers verses filled with apocalyptic and dystopian visions ranging from the inconvenience of livestock escaping to nuclear war . It answers with the chorus of this ancient message of investing in those around you and sharing so that when hard times come you have someone to call on for help.
Lyrics: The apple tree has lost its leaves/ the wind is coming now
the cow and calf have run away/the fence is trampled down
Does a nuclear winter/ ever melt into Spring
Who will wake the Children when the birds forget to sing?

Cast your bread to the waters/give your portion to seven, yes to eight

The baker and the butcher/ have run off to the wood
The pirate raids the squirrels nest/ and makes off with her food
Will lover say to lover/ I am yours and you are mine
When clouds take the sky/ and the sun forgets to shine

Cast your bread to the waters/ give your portion to seven yes to eight
