Years ago I was playing in an Irish Pub with my friend the Loafing Hero. During his set, a very boisterous rugby team came and and took over the whole place. They discovered the Loafing Hero was an Irishman, so they asked for an Irish Ballad, and then another, and completely sabotaged his whole concert. As we walked home later that night, the Loafing Hero, who was typically telling stories, and high on life, was completely demoralized.
These guys completely smothered his original songs, and unfortunately for them, missed out on some beautiful tunes.
A little later this song, "Saints and Sinners" came to me, and the verses tell different stories, but the theme of it is to do what you are meant to do no matter what, even if others don't understand what you are doing, or why you do it.
The second verse is a tribute to the Loafing Hero, who has traveled around the world singing his songs on street corners, plazas, bars, and any venue that will have him.
Thank you for all of your support the last several days Steemians. I hope you enjoy this song.
Lyrics:
The pope flew up to London town
And all the people gathered ‘round
He listened as they cursed his name
While others said there should be no blame
Was it worth it all that took him there
To the sea of signs and fists in the air
And the saints and the sinners stand side by side
Both knowing they are right, they are right
And the saints and the sinners do they realize, realize
There’s a story in those eyes, in those eyes
Now the loafing hero sang his heart
Exposing all his fractured parts
But the people wanted songs they’ve heard before
So he’d give them one, and they’d beg for more
So the only ones who ever heard
Were the few who listened to every word
And the saints and the sinners stand side by side
Both knowing they are right, they are right
And the saints and the sinners do they realize, realize
There’s a story in those eyes, in those eyes
And yet still we open up our souls
When we know that passions can be cruel
And when I told you that I loved you so
I thought your love for me might show
So I’m praying that it’s worth it all
And I’m climbing as I hit this wall
And the saints and the sinners stand side by side
Both knowing they are right, they are right
And the saints and the sinners do they realize, realize
There’s a story in those eyes, in those eyes

Vibe music
I love Irish music. I was influenced heavily by Blugrass so the jigs and reels mean a lot to me...... Most ethnic music gets my ear in one way or another.....
