Exclusively available in memory of my dear Maria. It might seem strange that I mention our Golden Retriever here, in the description of a song, but she was our close companion for a decade of this often-rocky life. She was there with us in Germany, in Italy, in New York and Oklahoma, and everywhere in between. She traveled with us to Pisa and Venice, and she traveled with us to New York City and across the country several times.
And people talk about dogs going over the rainbow bridge. I like the concept that they are in a better place. But I don't like that they wait there for their "masters". I think that's a construct that is created by us to tether them to us down here on Earth. My belief is that Maria no longer has her liver cancer, or her hip problems. But she still has that panting, happy smile. And she is running in circles with her ear to the ground on the expansive green fields of heaven.
Good Night is a beautiful old gospel hymn. This is me singing with a bunch of electronics. Simple words, simple meaning. This was a song I learned from a friend who learned it from a tape of the Grateful Dead, who learned it from a recording made by the Lomaxes in the Caribbean. The singers in the Caribbean learned it from a hymn book that was brought there by missionaries. The song ended up in that Ira Sankey hymn book after it was used for a funeral of someone important in Texas, using the lyrics composed for someone's funeral in the UK a hundred years prior. It has passed many hands, and I hope you are able to take it with you as well.

Hey Dr. Kent. Man this one got to me. Instantly reminded my of my dear old mom who is in a better place. Memories flashed like they were yesterday, back to 2004 where as she went to sleep for her rest and smiled, not at us but I believe she saw her savior and that final expression was his gift to us. A sincere thank you.
Oh, @gabbyg86, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. And it's so hard, yet so beautiful to think about those moments. Blessings to you, and to your family. Thanks for this note. It means a lot.
